sig 553
« on: January 02, 2014, 11:40:22 AM »
So ok this is a little weird question that I am for sure I will not get help on but thats why I am going to you guys. As everyone knows I have my new sig553 by G&G and well my midcap mags for it do not fit unless I give it a little bit more then you should. So i was wondering if anyone knew any mods to make the mags work for the magwell. I have a g&g highcap and standard mag that fit but they are both made by g&g... and they do not have any midcaps available for this gun. I really do not want to spend a whole lot more money on new 30+1 round mags when i have 8 100rd midcaps for my 552. Anyways please if anyone can shed some light on this.

Have you thought about sanding the mag down a bit to make sure they fit. I had to do this for some AK mags when I got a cheap clone body.

I would measure both mags with a good set of calipers. Write down the measurements and use a file and a sanding stick with 320 grit paper and make them the same dimensions.
haha you're right, I was an idiot last night.

I used regular old sandpaper. I also didn't have to take off much... I just did a little at a time and checked frequently. Then I used the first mag as a measurement for the others.

I did the lip because that was what was keeping the mag from staying. It really depends on where your problem lies.
If if not clipping try the lip, if its not fitting try the front. I hate to say trial by error but if you do break it, Joe has tape.

When you press the mag in it might leave impressions or marks, that is where you start to file first. If your file has large teeth and leave scratches take your sandpaper and stick it or wrap it around a stick so you can sand the area smooth and flat. Don't just your hands, you could round over something by accident.

So the mods i made to the mags didnt work at all... The MAG mid caps will not feed the 553 correctly(which makes me hella upset right now.) so that means I can only run the standard(which is 40+1) or the G&G 550 high caps. I am really upset on this but maybe my moding it is what is causeing the problem because now betsie is not feeding either so maybe its the mags themselves. The thing is I tried all the mags and they dont feed into my JG... with that being said I do believe that I will be getting rid of my 8 midcaps unless there is someone else that thinks they could help.

Bring your gun this month to the indoor play and I'll take a look at it, and see if I can't give you any suggestions.
