i got 10 yards of burlap and dye for under $20 and this summer i plan on making a gun wrap or something with it. Needed it for another project and had a lot of extras.

You should make one out of plywood. That way nobody will see you in the cqb.

From my small amount of research I did when I wanted to make one. Depending on oh much time a day you put into the suit and what you use to make it. It could take a few Months to put together a full suit. For me I put together a list of pro/cons with this idea.
Pro:
You know the grade at which you made the suit
You can customize it to your average play surroundings
Pride in making something so awesome
You can make it suited to what you will be doing.
Con:
Takes alot of time
Have to plan out the design
Easier to buy it
Have to dedicate a set of cammies for it

Those are just a few of the basics that I thought up. If you have questions I would ask and you could get some answers. Let me know if this helped you decide or just made you more confused than you where before reading it.

Dont forget that after you make it, to buy a fire retardent mix and dip it in it, one spark and youll look like the table show at Nakato's.

I've had a ghuillie suit for at least ten years now. My first one was very primative but still effective. I used a heavy net for my first one to attach all the 3D cammo components to. I used some cammo burlap that is availible almost everywhere, I've even seen it at walmart in the for of a hunting blind (just cut it into strips). I also had access to some old bailing twine (as in the old square hay/straw bails) that was colored green and yellow. That twine is very hard to find now due to it being obsolete in the farming world. The great thing about that old twine is that it's organic and easily mimics grass.

I would just cut the strips of burlap and twine in varying lengths from 8"-1' and tied a knot in the middle in between holes in the netting. I then frayed out the twine. The burlap requires that you actually use the ghuille suit to get a good frayed look, and the more frayed it is the better off you are. The best way to wear in the burlap in my opionion is go walking through heavy brush and thick wooded areas and as the burlap rubs on and gets caught on the trees and brush it will get in worn in fast.

I am currently building a new one and I'm using an old flight suit to attach it to. I strongly suggest this idea. I know other guys that have done it and it just fits better and you don't have the actauly ghuille touching you (which is very scratchy) plus you don't have a separate set of pants and a jacket. The base I'm using for my new one is a surplus military cammo nett to hide artillery pieces and such. That will provide a great leafy look. I also bought some assorted cammo colored burlap thread that I will randomly place on the netting. I'm going to leave mine kind of open so that I can add plent of surrounding plat life from the field at the time that I'm playing. This should keep it lighter and cooler.

In my personal opinion, Id much rather make my own than buy one, because the pre made ones aren't usualy all that great, plus only YOU know what you want out of your ghuillie, so you should just make it yourself, that way you get exactly what you want. Also if you're recourceful enough, you can make one for the same price or less than you can buy one. Let's not forget the braggin rights of saying you built your own suit! ;)

Hope I helped a little. Good luck!
