tell me and every one else who sees this what gear u think is better thanks
-
I would have to say....
It depends on what ya are going for...
511 brand, supposedly is "better" quality, yet other than few minor things like thread count, doesn't seem any better or worse quality wise as Condor.
I mean, it' s not like any of this stuff is Eagle Industry , or Blackhawk brand , that would hold up to real steel combat situations.
Though, I've met a few police and real steel folks, that actually use and like Condor products, over more "expensive brands".
BUT... it's all about individual taste, which just like AEGs and GBBs... you'll have some that like and swear by one brand, and others will disagree.
-
I totally agree with Dragon, a lot of people will buy from only one brand and praise it mainly because they have had bad experiances or heard something once about other guns. I don't agree with that but people do what they want to do and I'm not gonna stop them or make a fuss about it, it just depends on one's opinion and personal taste.
-
Voo Doo tactical, is quality, decently priced, and i can get it locally, i wont touch condor ever agin, all 3 of my condor pouches have broken withing the first month of use.
-
We started carrying the Voodoo line about month or so. I do like it. With the store it just seems to come down to what we can get from each one when we need it.

BlackHawk and HSGI are the best I've seen. All the gear is designed intelligently and with common sense. Condor and Voodoo are ok for a while, but once they've seen some use, the seems can give out and the fabric frays when it's treated rough. BlackHawk and HSGI don't suffer from these alements. The HSGI Taco pouch is hands down one of the greatest piece of kit I've seen. It's expensive yes, but worth it.
On the subject of using Condor and Voodoo for RS. It may work for a while, but I see it quickly giving out after heavy use.
-
yeah, I think they all do after a bit of use...
Molle just doesn't hold up like alice or malice gear did.
of course, it isn't as heavy either, and more modular.
-
I like the Voodoo line myself considering all the condor equipment i have purchased has fallen apart within a month or 2. I can not say i can give them props, but then again everyone i talk to says that i might have gotten some bad stuff i dont know. So that is the reason why i made my vote the way i did.
-
yea you guys are right voodoo and black halk are really good but to what dragon said um 5.11 gear is for reall steel use too u should [Link to nonsponsoring retailer deleted] its all the carry it with out a doubt stand rite beside voodoo and black halk
-
I had Voodoo gloves... they tore on my first time wearing em.
I have a Voodoo PC ( thanks MSE ) ... and it' s no better quality wise than the Condor Full PC I usually wear.
I don't doubt 511 is intended for RS application... But, I think it's alot like most "products" on the market... it's a fad/ desired because of name brand... It's no better than Blackhawk gear... and , Blackhawk in my opinion, makes some good stuff, and some not so good stuff.
( and why they think everyone has short legs, and beer bellies, I will never understand! )
Like I said though, It's what you wanna do with it that matters though.
Lets make a example real quick...
Alright, you have "pros" that want the best of the best of the best... you will notice these guys out there, with the REAL steel EOtechs and latest and greatest gadgetry on their rifles, guns, helmets, and their load out is almost all AUTHENTIC and expensively acquired.
For Airsoft, ok.. yeah well, they might look "cool" ... hey after all, it's nice expensive stuff... but, to me, it's flat out OVERKILL for airsoft or combat simulation.
Same with plate carriers, belts, pouches...ect.
You can go with the "best of the best, of the best" gear... spend that money on it, and MAYBE it will last a year or two longer than a cheaper brand ... under heavy use, MAYBE.
And guess what else... next year, a new style/color/ or even system is out on the market... , now what ya got, even if it did last is used, and "outdated"... you are no longer HSLD , and now it's time for another expensive "outfit".
Now, mind you, I think even Condor products and Voodoo are way over-priced for what they are, and what semi-good quality you get out of em as well.
But, I use my gear for Airsoft, MilSim, and Combat Simulation... it's going to get used, eventually everything wears out... even velcro.
But if Zombie Apocalypse broke out tomorrow... I also Know I could use what I have, even for real steel until it did decide to fail me flat out.
somethings are just better than others... of course...
but practical application , and expense to me play a big part of things.
I don't care if it's 511, VooDoo... EagleI ... or a China clone. If it works, it works.

Here Here Dragon... i like the fact that you didnt push your opinions bro that was nicely put. For everyone its different... i mean i look at JoeJoe's loadouts that i have seen at sogo and it just looks crazy! Looks like everything is seperate brands and just meshed together, but he looks comfortable(was gonna say comfee but didnt want to get hit by the gramer police :o jk). I like the way joe has his stuff and i like looking at Jon's WV loadout that was cool looking. I have a UTG ACU tac vest... and i have a china made battle uniform multicam and its falling apart mainly cause i am not taking good care of it... but its comfortable even though its china stuff. I use to wear some of my Dad's old Uniform stuff from his time in the mil... but its not comfortable.
I really think that if you want to get down to it... even the cheapest drell(farscape referance) can be possibly better then the more expensive stuff cause its all how its worn and taken care of. I know someone here in STL that uses an OLD OLD OLD OLD mil cloths his dad used in korea... and he takes care of them and those things are looking prestean. Very used but that makes them so much more comforable... Anyways point being is it doesnt matter what magazine...book...person... company claims they have the best out there... they are only talking about in a general population not IS ALL END ALL PERFECT GEAR! Anyways thats my statement... would you like to add anything else to that Dragon?
-
Sounds good to me...
I mean, look... I got alot of gear myself..., and look sat what I don most the time...
at Sogos, I wear a cheapo china made mesh skull mask. And what-ever tac gear I feel like wearing.
My knee and elbow pads are older, and finally about to wear out after 3 years of heavy use... and those are actually skateboard pads, but they fit better and stay in place compared to what tac gear you can find in that area. My kneepads, do not slip down or ride up.
Out on the field, I have a mostly OD green PC ( Condor), it suffices for my needs/wants... and has some black pouches and some OD green ones. Honestly, I thought it looked worse with all OD green, kinda monotone even.
I like mis-matched, reminds me of a battlefield "spoils" collector.
I like odd and different ( much to the chagrin of my fellow MilSimmers, lol ) , even some futuristic looking stuff I've seen... , but thats because I can think outside the box.
I think I was gonna go do a complete C-Brown look , for the new PC I won in a raffle at MSe's event... but, once again, I find myself with more black pouches, and since I was gonna use it for either a pistol load-out ( I might change my mind on that though, and go with another tac vest for that) for Sogos, or run my MP5 load-out on it... I will probably mis-match it as well.
You see, as long as it works, and isn't too much a hassle... I will use it.
I still wear an alice belt/w suspenders ... I like the Molle battle belts, more modular... but my alice gear has yet to fail me, and I don't see a need to "switch" , just becasue something new was out there.
-
amen to that and by the way that was perfetly put so good job to that as well that is a good mado to go by " If it works! It works. And i guess i was manily asking because every time i go into sogo some one makes fun of my camo type and frankly i think its funny but still it cant hurt to ask right???
-
If I ONLY played airsoft/milsim, I don't think I'd ever pay the extra $$$ for anything besides Condor and Voodoo. But the fact is that I do a good deal of RS and as much as I'd hoped the Condor and Voodoo stuff would hold up well, it doesn't. I'm also a firm believer in the idea that if you do RS, you should use the same or very similar gun/gear setups in both realms for better training. In doing this, I've already noticed a dramatic increase in by abilities with my AK's and my reload speeds continue to get faster.
In that light, I have to expect more from my gear.
As of lately Condor has been stepping up their game and making better stuff. Voodoo in all honestly is really not on that much higher level than Condor. There for a while suspisions were floating around that Voodoo was even just rebranded or re-tagged Condor products.

When I where camo I end up looking more like what dragon sayed I look like a battlefield scavanger as to I like "comfee" stuff because as I first started out playing and still do with my group we park in the field gear out and then don't go back till the next day ruffly 24 to 36 hours of play no reloads at the car the only thing that stops us is bats but back on topic I where what I where because it works and fits and won't bug/rub/chafe me and I have everthing from rs to cheap china to walmart cr apit all works and brand and color don't matter to me.... also I have a dumb question for all of you guys why do u camo out for cqb ne and most of my team have never undersood why everyone dose unless ur camo is plywood wouldn't it be easyer and COOLER in summer to go in your gear and jeans and tshirt? I was just throwing that out there
-
Well I know most of the time the players dress up in their gear to always see if what they have is working or needs to be changed. The more you use it the more refined your setup will get. You find out your mag pouches aren't in the right place. Or you need more. Maybe find out you need a dump pouch. Then you get that and try and that out. And the process just keeps going from there.
Saying you need camo that looks like plywood is also a misconception. Especially in CQB1 with the lights the way they are in there. And when we move CQB2 lights into emergency mode. There are so many shadows and different dark area's that you can disappear if you do what you are suppose to do.
Also it makes it easier to tell your teams apart.
I wear Jeans and Black up on top most of the time in the CQB. When we have the US Marshals out to train that is what we use.
I hope that answers question.
Jon

Oh that wasant a dumb question but the reason i wear camo is so it looks more present able i guess that a good word for it and not only that it s more milsim you woulden see military personal walk into a house and and try and clear it with a tac vest and a metelica T shirt under neith it would you lol no u shure wouldent that my reason.
-
And i guess i was manily asking because every time i go into sogo some one makes fun of my camo type and frankly i think its funny but still it cant hurt to ask right???
Well,
That shouldn't be happening...
I think any camo options in Sogos ( or anywhere), is a nice step up from Civi type clothing. ( Unless going contractor look, or like our famous INDY character, lol. )
To me, at least considering camo options, means you are putting a slight thought toward the game, and wearing something designed to take punishment over street clothes.
Some of our D-9 guys, have ripped their civi blue jeans in Sogos, just playing...
Not saying that I'd never wear them in Sogos either... if I felt like it, thats what i'd be wearing.
I had folks scoffing at me a few years back as well. ( and maybe still... , I tend not to pay attention to the odd looks anymore.)
I was on a field of die-hard MilSimmers, they had KWA M4s, all the bells and whistles.
I had my JG g36 , my simple black alice belt set up, and I wore my swat bottoms ( black) with a off cammo t-shirt.
Needless to say, they laughed at me, and my gear.
I almost left because of it... but I decided to just keep at it, cause my love for airsoft was greater than my need to feel pride.
By the end of the day though... those that were being jerks, were very surprised to find out I was ex-military, and impressed with my "chepo AEG" ... of such I hung in neck and neck with the best of them out there that day. They reconsidered every aspect about me, and players like me.
Not only did I earn their respect that day... many went back and started putting together their own " scavenger" contractor look.
Since then, I got over what people "judged" me by, and stopped caring about if I didn't make the grade, or be "realistic" in gear placement.
I found what works for me... mostly. It's a continual "learning" that is ongoing I think.
I don't think it's nice to poke fun at people for their gear and what they got.
The only bad players I've ever met, were players that cheated, or broke rules, or bent them to degree that was unacceptable. None of that had to do with GEAR itself, as these players were fully outfitted with nice things.
Never was it ever a "bad player" based on their gear choices.
-
Why would someone make fun of you because of your camo type at So Go? That's just not right, I like to where camo when I play airsoft just because it looks so freakin' cool. But also, I've worn a pair of jeans and my Coke t-shirt there plenty of times. If someone is making fun of you at So Go because of your camo type it's just because they're jealous of your awesomeness! 8)
-
yes well thanks aolt guys i now have a new way of looking at things when people start to saycrap ill just say thanks you too lol
-
RIGHT ON!
-
I know this is off topic but dose anyone know if sogo has any double or triple ak pouchs in black or od and if so how much
-
You should probably ask that question on a different topic so we can try to keep this one on topic, keword: try.
-
Last time I was there, I do think I recall Jon had alot of black pouches in his selection.
I myself picked up a nice triple mp5 pouch that day, but I didn't actually look at the rest to know if any were AK style.
I would think he would have them though, as AKs are very popular ...
I do think he had a chest rig that was black , and nice on the rack as well. I almost bought it... lol. I didn't becasue I have a system already I've been trying to outfit.
-
K thanks dragon... sorry for geting off topic
-
Joe will have your hide for that....
I get most of my pouches at a Army Surplus store.
I don't know what brand the US Military uses but these pouches have yet to fail and I don't take that good care of my gear.
-
Sometimes you have to do a good deal of research to find out who got the contract to produce any given product that the military uses. Delt is right though, the military ones are tacticool or super high speed, but they're tough as nails.
Fun fact: In WWII, to keep up with production demands on weapons several manufacturing factories were shut down and re-tooled to produce rifels, carbines, and pistols instead. Some M1 Garands are out there were made by International Harvester (a farm equipment company) and some 1911's were made by Singer (a sewing machine company) and a whole slew of companies made M1 Carbines like IBM, Rock-Ola Music Corp., National Postal Meter, and Inland which was a division of GM. So really who freakin' knows who REALLY made what in the military. It's all made to the same specs and always to a certain standard of quality, so they can only be so crappy no matter what 'it' is.

Dragon that is a good experience man i like how everything worked out in the end and you showed them that it doesnt matter what you wear it matters what you do with it. When i first started playing backyard games with my springers it was the whole leather jacket and breakaway pants. When i started at sogo it was Desert(cause i like tan... dont ask) and that was fun. Also not to mention that i didnt really understand what i was doing with Airsofting till i actually got started! I now have a team of family that we try to look as much of the "The part" as we can.
Its funny cause i have a something interesting as well. Has anyone played the Game MAG for ps3? If not there are 3 factions S.V.E.R, Valor, Ravan... anyways one of my team members plays sevor and he started makeing his airsoft play-fit(Thats play outfit... i just didnt want to seem... you know) like them. lets see if i can post a good pic of it. Ok i couldnt insert the picture for some reason but it doesnt matter. There basicly like a person with a gun... cargo pants...hoodie...and an AK. That is just awesome and the look is pretty cool it kinda looks like a hobo with a gun and its awesome! Anyways just my 2 cents lol

Lol, exactly...
when I first discovered airsoft, it was actually an "after-thought" as I was browsing around walmart's adult toy section ( the sporting goods).
Since day 1, I've had a "vision" of something that goes beyond even MilSim participation.
Problem is, I'm like 1 out of 1,000 people that would dare to do much "different".
Of course, I got sucked into the realism, and tactics of higher grade airsoft, and MilSim, of such I enjoy very much.
But, my originating idea, has never taken hold or effect... a Airsoft Combat Simulation LARP , a real LARP ... outrageous loadouts and outfits , complete story lines, and acting out real roles developed by the participants themselves.
-
Ok now that sir is what i call vision lol. but i like it

I love the little flashbacks you've been telling the forum about how you got into airsoft. Very enjoyable, someone should start a topic where you post a big long story about how you got into airsoft. In fact...
-
Beginnings define alot about people.
Ya know, I've done some serious growing during my inclusion into airsoft.
I started, not knowing practically anything about airsoft, ( I did have a paintball back ground, and RL Army training) :
1- went and played in groups and games, Sogos was in there somewhere along the line :)
2- became an airsoft group coordinator and admin
3- got involved in MilSim
4- started a field
5- put together a MilSim team
6- started going to Events
7- played, played , and played even harder
8- designed OPs and Events
9- developed alot of great airsmithing skills
10- made many great contacts from others in the Hobby
11- redefined myself over and over in the hobby as I play it
12- and I keep on keeping on, no matter what.
I've made many mistakes along the way. I've also made some innovative ideas, spring to life in airsoft as well. I've gained expereince, and wisdom... yet I'm no where near the finish line.
I think it does help to let folks know though... I started with humble origins. Walmart green BBs caught my interest, and it grew from there.
-
LOL, that is probably my favorite part in that whole story, Wal-Mart's green airsoft bbs or they were probably called SoftAir Billes. But yeah, we've all made many big, big mistakes my friend.
