Title: This Generation's Lawn Dart, Airsoft-Style
Post by: Joe on March 26, 2012, 11:46:09 AM
The Hakkotsu mortar,

Proof not every company has a legal department.

Springfield Airsoft will not permit these to be used at its games.

I can see it now, two teenagers think "Dude, we could totally shoulder launch this"
1st guy holding tube says "just push it in real fast and get out of the way"
2nd guy says "Thats a great ide......uuuuhhhhhh my face hurts"
1st guy "SOMEONE CALL AN AMBULANCE!!"

Good ideas gone bad right here.

Wow, just wow. I really want to like this, but the stupid is just overwhelming. Why not just make it launch a cloud of bb's? That's been done really well by diy'ers in the past, so why the need for a giant lawndart-like device? If somebody launched that at me during a game, there would be a call to fix bayonets and someone on the mortar team would probably be going home in an ambulance, lol.

Well...at least it looks cool...

Utterly disappointing that they would make these.

I almost find it funny that these things can even be allowed anywhere.  I can't tell you the crap Gene and I had to go through with field owners and shops about the liability of someone firing one of our ASC7 Claymores if someone crawled up on it.
And these are just the rockets filled with water like I had when I was a kid.  In fact Gene and I came up with a device that used that exact method and we figured out pretty quick that the risks of it hurting someone is just to high.

And these things aren't small.  We saw them at the Shot Show.  And everybody was saying the same things about them being a safety issue.  I am sure there was some that just look at them for the fun factor.  How about the find them factor?

So go Airsoft

I can see it now. "nurse what's wrong with him?"  "he has a plastic mortar round through his chest." "we have the technology. We can rebuild him"
