I've had several friends and other various people ask me, "How do you know when your mag is full of gas?". Of course I'm never much of a help because I just say, "Well, I don't honestly know...", so then they ask, "Well then how do YOU tell when your mag is full?". "I don't really have a precise way of telling," I say, "I just guess and whatever I do just usually works out. I've had my guns long enough I just kinda' know I guess."
That's true, I just guess, and I'm sure several others do the same thing. I read somewhere that you don't really actually know when your mag is full; I'm not sure if this is true or not but here is my question for you all: is there really a way to tell whether or not your gas mag is full? If so, please share, if not, what are some tips or techniques on judging when your mag is full.
I will greatly appreciate your feedback on this matter and I'm sure others having this issue will too. I know that I have pondered this quite a bit, so anything you guys and gals know will be great! Thanks for your time!
P.S.: I looked for a topic on this subject that had already been done but didn't find anything on this forum, so I'm sorry if it has already been done and I'm just repeating a topic.

I count 15 seconds with green gas. Propane i count to 12 ... that seems to last about a mag and a half.

I usually fill for several seconds and then release. Then I do it again for a few more seconds. Depending on the sound and gas that escapes as I release the tank from the mag, I think it's full.

There are alot of things to take into consideration. How full your tank is. How much gas you still had in your mag. Temps outside. How cold your mag is. How much gas is escaping while filling your mag. But at the end of all that adjusting for those variables, I use the feel of the mag getting cooler up to a certain point on my mags. And the sound of the gas transfer. And then when I think that is enough. I hit it 2 more seconds. lol
Just me. And you will find everybody has a system for their type of mags. I use a slightly different method for different kinds of mags. Only because all the variables above can be different.

The way i was told to tell is to listen to the propane tank closely and when it stops making noise inside then the pressure has equalized between the bottle and the magazine therefore the magazine is as full as it can get. You really cant overfill gbb magazines because propane doesnt have enough pressure to expand the metal. Over a period of time that can happen to your magazine if you leave it set with propane in it in hot weather. There's my two cents ;D (My dad works for a propane company so i just do whatever he said lol :P)

I always make sure the mag is fairly warm before I load it no matter what the brand and I do it by taking off my gloves and gripping it tightly and putting my thumb over the gasket on the top, if the gasket gets hard it can get chewed up and/or have bad gas efficiency.
kwa mags generally dont leak as you fill the mag so you can hear it equalize which when it does the mag is filled.
We/kjw (and other brands like HFC, win gun) mags are less consistent and can have a little leaking of the fill valve when you are filling it or it could be as clear as the KWA mags, so if it is leaking a bit then you cant hear the equalization I will use about 8 sec. of propane around the same for green gas maybe a little longer.
Tokyo Marui mags have a lot of leakage around the fill valve but when the mag is full there is an oblivious amount of gas that will start blowing back out of the fill valve.
