Title: Introductions
Post by: Joe on May 10, 2010, 09:46:01 AM
Hello and welcome to the new Springfield Airsoft website!  Many thanks to Jon, Lyn, Gene, Sogo Airsoft and everyone else whose hard work made this new website a reality.

My name is Joe and I've been playing airsoft for about two years.  I'm an admin with Springfield Airsoft. Like many of you, I'm a paintball veteran.  I enjoy the constant play and realistic gear of airsoft (not to mention no paint stains on said gear and self).  I've just returned from my third Invasion:  Oklahoma.  I had a good time.

I look forward to meeting each of you.

Joe

Well Joe beat me to it.  I am Jon the owner of So Go Airsoft and Supercell Dev. inc. (Inventor of the ASC7 Claymore)  Since I do have the CQB's in Ozark and Nixa, Airsoft is basically my life.
Anyway, I want to thank all those who come out and play and keep Airsoft growing.  Keep looking for games for our CQB's and outdoor games on here.

...and hopefully in Joplin someday?!

I am "Sarge" from Joplin, MO. I am the leader/organizer/webmaster basically everything in charge of the Joplin airsoft community. We are now a nationally sponsored team and we are glad to be partners with SOGO in their community. We love to play anything airsoft, and host many events of our own.

Thanks to Jon for all his hard work in the airsoft community, it is greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone my name is Cody. Many of you that play at Sogo already know who I am. I've been playing airsoft since May 2006 and have met lot of great people that play at Sogo. Just like lot of players I like the realism that airsoft can bring to the table. Great job on the revamp of the website it looks great.

Hi, my name is Tony and some of you might have seen me at SoGo. Been playing airsoft for about 5 years and joined Springfield Airsoft in early 2006. I'm an admin with Springfield Airsoft. I enjoy the sport of airsoft, because of the realistic weapons and tactics that paintball doesn't provide. Been to many events, 3 OK invasions, AI-500, and many KCAA games.

TM 1911 Desert warrior

So far I've got an Echo 1 STAG-15A4.  Looking forward to some outdoor games this summer.

I am of a dying breed. I yes play real Milsim Airsoft, and do MilSim events with non-airsoft weapons.
I've been playing Airsoft for about as long as a Bear has been ****ing in the woods.
Hopefully Lord willing I will be joining the U.S Army as soon as possible.

If SA (Or what SA is now) gets games going I'll do my best to attend. :)

My name is Bill Bailey. i have been playing paintball since 1985. Recently i let Jon and Joe run a airsoft game at my paintball field and all i have to say to this is "No trash left behind, players are very courteous, glad to have made some new friends and hope to see you guys out there again".

I am going to get into this sport and bring some of my paintball friends with me. Watching you guys play made me feel like i was back in the 80"s when Honor on the field meant something in paintball.

thanks guys for coming out

Yes it is very hard to get a vietnam themed event around here. I've had a few small events at my farm, most of the guys who showed up were not period correct but they loved the vietnam styled imersion. Most of the huge vietnam themed events are held by the HMSG out in the east coast. Hopefully I will be able to attend one of these events in the near future.

My name is Chris. Was pretty active with SA and SoGo back in the day, helped Jon and everyone with the store and the early days of SoGo. Sadly I'm looking at sliding out of the airsoft game. Took a hiatus for paramedic school and just recently had a baby girl in August. I work at St Johns EMS and volunteer for Willard Fire Department.

In the upcoming weeks I'm gonna have a few items thrown up in the classifieds. I'm sad to leave but realize life has caught up and sadly airsoft is losing space in it. Miss the glory days of SA and the early CQB days of SoGo. I've got a TM Famas that I'll be selling and currently undecided on selling my HFC M190 GBB.

Dragon here, from Team Delta 9 ... Location NWA AR/SW MO area.

Some of us drive up to Sogo's for the first weekend a month event day, which is about a two hour drive for us, but it's fun, and we love the trigger time.

Supercell said for me to join up here and make some post for field play , for down this way... so, here I am.

I'll detail the field play idea in another thread!
For those that don't know me... to well,
I am actually kinda new to Sogo's , only have gone twice.  But I have participated in many airsoft games/small events for out-door play.
I'm the guy that comes up with Cody and Chris when they go for CQB.

Forming a team down here ( amazingly there are lots of teams and players in our area, just no fields yet really! ) , and with any hope are going to get something off the ground for outdoor play around here.
It's been slow going the past few months...

But we are now trying to make things happen.

well, hope everyone rolls over and checks out my next post somewhere down the list there...

The exact location we are still working on. ( I don't know the name of the small community the field is located at, I only know how to get there by driving currently. )

We are based out of Bella Vista Arkansas, very close to the MO border here. The field is about 7 miles north of Bella Vista in MO... and that's the target area we want to hold trigger days and events in.
It's about 100 acres we can choose and pick playing areas from, and have special permission to do airsoft events there.

Just in case we have a few other locations right here in Bella Vista we have permission to use. They just aren't as big, and in my opinion not as great terrain wise.

I started a thread on it down below.... and will update it as soon as I get more intel from my other Team Members and Team Leader.

My name is Stephen and I have done a few games at SoGo but have not been back in a while because of some money concerns. I have played countless field matches with several friends and have set up several matches at my house. I have a simple full metal M4 Carbine by Dboy with a dis-functional 5000 round Box mag for it. Looking forward to several matches with you guys and also looking forward for a short M203. I have a team of about 5 people who somewhat regularly show up to airsoft events. I you need anything or you have questions send me a message. Started Airsoft because Paintball was a little on the expensive side with the CO2 and paint.

LOL.  I LOVE your signature line!  Just remind me to steer clear of you in the CQB.

You're not the only person with a paintball history here.  I don't hate paintball or look down upon it; I just prefer airsoft at this point in my life.

Welcome aboard, Black Fox.

As of now I'm rocking a Echo 1 G36c (currently has a Classic Army motor upgrade,9.6v battery, and hoping to futher upgrade with a mock silencer, tight bore, 11.1v lipo, 130 cut down spring, rail kit, green laser, holographic sight, and eventually a beastly set of Systema gears.) Any questions pm. Peace fellow airsofters.

<At> Honky ,

130 cut down spring,

It's a waste to clip a 130 spring really. i'd just drop in a 110 , should be right under 300 FPS using .25s then.
or clip the stock 120 in it.  130 if a big jump in power , and is pretty tuff on motors and gears.

< At> jesse ,
pleased to meet you. Hope to see ya at Sogo's sometime... and it's cool.  I don't take it easy on anyone despite age... i've gotten bested by those your age before, under-estimating them. lol.

To Dragon,

The 130 spring will not affect the gears as much as you think. The wear and tear will increase yes, but as stated in the intro I plan on upgrading the internals anyway. As a "G36 Guru?" you should infer by the list of upgrade I eventually want my G36 to be a straight field only gun. Lipos in tiny spots makes you a prime target due to the distinct sound the comes from a high ROF gun. Also the 130 spring cut down allows me to be right under 400fps with a .25  for field play (if not then can be easily cut down futher to fit criteria.) Plus as stated the gun already has the upgraded Classic Army motor in it that will handle up to a 135 spring. But thanks for the advice.

Hi My name is Shaun and i'm part of the NOVA team based in Rolla,MO. I've really only played at SoGo and i find its quite an enjoyable place along with the great services and fun they offer. I currently use an old TM P90 with a 1500 round box mag and have a mp5k and WWII Thompson replica that I use rarely atm for cqb games. Used to play paintball but I don't find it as fun as Airsoft plus it's easier to get a game going. As for names i've been called I think trigger might be the only one I have heard and theres a funny story behind it. You can ask Rev for details :D

For cqb, assuming it shoots around the limit just get a 9.6v quality battery (intellect, elite) sogo carries some intellects. Will up your RoF, sounds a lot better, and it's always good to have a spare battery (or 4).

IMO accuracy upgrades are not neccesary for cqb. Others may disagree. Other than that, get an extra mag if needed, but if it has a hi-cap, you're set, if not, he's shooting too much :)

Welcome to airsoft Westy!

Do you currently have any gear at all?  Where are ya located?

marksmen, or Sniper rifle shooting in airsoft is a very ... complex role.  I'm not saying anything to disuade you from the role, if your interest really are in tune with it.
That being said... quite often, marksmen generally spend a bit more up front for their rifles. Most sold stock, will not get you close to the accurate ranges you need to be shooting at.
It really takes patience, and a good understanding of airsoft and playing the role on a team.

Most airsofters consider the role to be very lone-wolf, but it actually isn't.  It is a very team coordinated and designated role.

Good luck with what ya do decide!

Welcome to the community, just a tidbit about sniping, most courses requre you to become known by the community and get permissions to become a sniper. and with most AEG's that'll outperform a stock sniper, and the cost involved in creating a built sniper. i'd suggest going the rifleman route, you'll definately apprecciate having an AEG once you try one. back on topic, what region are you in, and welcome to the sport, i'm pretty new myself but i'm already hooked on the sport, if you ever need any help or advice i'm sure anyone here will be willing to help.

Thank you Joe and Matt for the info on Sniping, and to awnser your questions im currently located in rolla,mo which is a good 100 miles away from springfield but i plan on going to msu for college so hopefully after may 24 i can get started on that, at this point i have no gear so as my rank right now that is what i am. I have the money for some good gear, i just need to buy it. Id only be able to participate in certian events, casue my work has me working crazy hours, but before i get the gear i have a couple questions
1. Matt, what kind of special permission would i have to be a team sniper
2. what kind of enviroments do we play in "woods, Urban,etc.."
3.do we just play in missouri or do we also go to other states and play?
4. and what is the age requirement to play, becasue my cousin will be starting up when he also gets the cash and he is 15.

1. as for the permissions most courses require you te be known or haqve a certain amout of airsoft experience because the sniper rifles are so high poweredthey can hurt people if used inproperly.
2. some people get together woods games for private play, we invite aq few people down here to WP every now and then, and SA(springfield airsoft) usually does a monthly event. SoGo is a CQB in ozark which is just a stones throw from springfield and has a shop there too. mostly i've seen CQB action and i'm sure most people are about the same.
3. Tere are out of state events i have not had the pleasure of going o one but some of the guys travel to see some actions there.
4. i do believe your cousin will be perfectly able to play at SOGO not sure about SA but joe could answer that better.

I've been second in command with Sarge for about a year. Lately Sarge has had to take a temporary (hopefully short) leave of absence and I've had to take the helm. Yesterday was my second trip to SOGO and there I talked with Joe and this was one of the sites he recomended that I take a look at. I look forward to getting to know you guys and hopefull making friendly trips to SOGO more often in the future.

Hey all,

I'm John, one of the members of N.O.V.A from the Rolla, MO area.  Took me long enough to find this forum lol.  Anyway, I've been playing airsoft for about a year now.  I wouldn't say I'm ready for a full Mil-Sim yet; need to upgrade my skills to Mad Skills.  In the mean time, I'm always up for the occasional "family get-together"  8)

Hi. my name is Sam, but some of my friend's have nicknamed me b.b.c, so that's what I go by. I live in the Springfield area, have my whole life.

I'm 15 (only for 5 1/2 more months), and like most teenagers, I do enjoy Xbox (that's where my nickname came from). I have a little experience with airsoft guns, but only spring pistols, and a MP5 style gun that was powered by 4 AA batteries, which I shot at trees with in my backyard. I do, however, have a good bit of experience with live firearms.

I became fascinated with airsoft when I heard some of my friends talking about having their own airsoft wars and I wanted to get into it too. I don't have experience with the competitive side of airsoft, but it's something I am very interested in. Once I get some money, I plan to invest in a decent gun and equipment for airsoft.

I hope to be out on the field soon, maybe even playing against some of you guys.

Since ya are right there in Springfield , you should hop down to Sogos ( it's right in Ozark , not far) ... Supercell ( AKA Jon ) ... He's even got rentals, so ya can try out some stuff and play against other players.

You'll learn alot , and most everyone that goes there can help ya out on advice, gear, ... just about anything as far as airsoft goes.

Welcome to the airsoft venue in this area BBC! nice to meet you! Good luck on your airsoft journey! Sounds like you're doing it the right way-save up and buy the expensive stuff first. I wasted at least $200 in lousy guns before I bought a good one. I also recommend you to buy from So Go Airsoft in Ozark, because they can help you decide your purchase and will fix the gun if it has problems. :)

Hello,

I have a lot of experience when it comes to firearms and tactics and have been an avid shooter for 10+ years now.  I'm fairly new to Airsoft though.  Up until recently most of my experience was with cheap spring guns. .

I'm looking forward to getting out to a game sometime.  I'm a lot more interested in CQB scenario based games, instead of just a free for all run and gun.  But I guess I'll just have to get out and try my hand at all of it and see what happens.

How goes it, yall?
My names Austin. I live in Shell Knob, but I am in Springfield pretty regularly. Ive Airsofted for about 5 years now. I graduated from borrowing junky springers and sitting on the sidelines to currently owning 2 pretty high end AEGS. I try to hit the field as often as possible, and i have extensive firearms experience. I am now my teams support gunner , medic, and engineer / tech dude. I do all my own internal work and custom work. I hope to meet as many members of this awesome community as i can. I frequent the Sogo retail shop, but haven't played on the CQB course yet. I'm also always in the market to add to my armory.

Cheers,

Hello,

My name is James, some people call me Effect, I'm 21 years old. I'm fairly new to airsoft, having only fired real firearms and paintball, considering shooting real firearms at people is bad, and paintball can often be somewhat lacking, I thought about giving this a try. I look forward to potentially playing in some events.
I live in Branson, but stop by Springfield quite often, and will probably be moving up there some time within the next month.

There's a Group around Branson area called "51/50" , they've played at Sogos a few times with and against Us D-9 guys , and they've came out to our field for an OP once.
Not a bad group of guys... they have a facebook page if ya are interested in getting in touch with them for local stuff.  From what I understand they have a field up there somewhere...

But Sogos and SA here... also excellent places to learn and play with alot of great guys!

Hello all, my name is Jason and I am getting into airsoft here in Springfield and was wondering where I could play or sight in my sniper rifle. Neighbors get a little wierd when you pull out a sniper rifle in your yard. LOL  All I have to start with is a Tokyo Marui MP5 and Well L96 AWP. I don't have any tactical gear yet or a side arm. Can I still play without the tactical gear or side arm?
Title: Re: Introductions
Post by: Joe on May 16, 2011, 10:55:49 AM
Welcome aboard, Chigger.  Always glad to have folks here.

You don't need tactical gear or a sidearm to play.  Both of these things can make your play a little easier but they're not required.  I used an Israeli paratrooper bag the last time I played outdoors. It functioned just fine.

Since you ask, may I suggest:

(1) A full face mask.  A paintball mask is perfect.  A good mask is still cheaper and more comfortable than dental work;

(2) Gloves.  They reduce the sting of hand hits;

(3) Kneepads.  The first time you kneel on a bb you'll be glad you have them;

and, finally,

(4) Gender-specific protective gear.  Ladies, a vest, hoodie and/or a padded bra will help.

Guys, some form of groin coverage, a cup, towel and/or padding is good.  I've seen guys go fetal after taking a hit "South of the Border".   It doesn't have to be bulletproof; just strong enough to absorb the shock of impact so you don't have to.

Welcome Chigger.  Joe has already given you great advice so I will answer your question where to play.  Have you been down to So Go Airsoft yet in Ozark?  I am the owner and this is a great place to meet alot of players.  Even those from out of the area.  Your Mp5 would be perfect for the CQB envirement.
Can you tell us anything else about yourself?  Age, past Airsoft experience (if any, we have alot of new players coming in all the time) and do you play with friends?

If you have any questions there are alot of informed people on here.

(wearing a sleeveless shirt last night resulted in more then a few noteworthy marks) anyways im anxious to learn and i know the best way is through experience so i hope ill see you guys out there! oh and anytime someone knows there comin out, if im free, ill make an effort too join you so keep me posted. Hey everyone this is BlackJack!
Well I am far from new to airsoft however I just recently moved to Nixa from Placerville, California where I was the local airsoft guru! If you had a question about a gun to get, wanted to host a game, or had any general questions about airsoft I was usually your guy if you lived in Placerville! haha
I have hosted games for about 8 years now and they consisted of players ages 8 to 50 and as many as 50 people at one game.
Normally I am used to playing in forests, fields or property with lots of trees, shurbs and greenery but now with SOGO about 10 minutes away I will have the oppurtunity to play more CQB (my favorite type of game).
I am also known as JerichoCross on Airsoft Barracks for anyone who is on there as well!
I have some general knowledge skills with gearboxes (mainly V2 M4 gearboxes) and almost no GBB techy skills haha
However airsoft is a big part of my life and i can't wait to play at SOGO and meet some of you!

My names Bo, and I've been into airsoft for about a year. I just got connected to a unit that plays at your tournaments and I'm hoping to come the 15th to play. Thank you for creating such a thing as Springfield Airsoft! I've always wanted to play on something bigger than backyard skirmishes.

It's good to see so many new players!  I look forward to meeting all of you.

If you're coming to our game on the 15th then you'll want to make sure your airsoft gun is legal to use.  It has to chrono under 400 feet per second, measured with a .20 gram bb.  We will have a chrono set up at the game and we'll chrono every gun.

For peace of mind you may want to chronoraph your gun at So Go before Saturday.  We will still check every gun Saturday.  If this appeals to you take your gun (in a case) and they can help you out.  While you're there, you may want to pick up a bag or two of .25 gram bb's.  It's not required but many folks like a heavier bb for outdoors.

Bo, Springfield Airsoft existed long before I even started playing airsoft.  I believe Adam, bgallion, Shifty and Supercell were in on the ground floor of Springfield Airsoft.  Credit goes to them for creating this fantastic community.

Hello guys, my name is Bryan. I have only been into airsoft for a few years now. I was a paintballer before. I am in the ARMY and recently got home from Afghanistan. Several of the guys I play with are in my unit here in springfield. Unfortunately the land we built up and played on was sold... So, I am looking for new land and people for us to play with. We are mostly woodsballers and havent tried cqb yet mostly because our guns are too hot for indoor play. We have played at porkchop hill and the barn swings (love that field) but they have crazy safety rules that don't allow airsoft.  Anyway I am getting itchy for a good kill shot so hopefully you guys can help me out.

I had a fair TM inventory till I sepperated from the military and my now ex wife. She took my airsoft gear in the divorce saying it was special to hear, lol. Maybe in its value. Now I have a AUG replica just an off brand spring. A WG 1911 Combat Special. A G6. As well as a WG revolver.

I have 2-TM's, 1-CA, 1-G&G and of course my KWA Glock.  I have been looking at the 1911's since I heard such great things about them.
I hope to get out to some more games.  I hope So Go gets their outdoor thing going soon.

Hey, my name is Josh and I was really introduced to "real" airsoft through, Dog (Josh White). If you count those springers, I will have been playing for around 8 years, but real airsoft for about a year. I like realism.

I go to SoGo quite often and buy my guns through them.

I'm 20 years old, soon to be 21 and I work at Wal-Mart.

I only like to play with mature players, I don't fool around with d-bags.

My name is Bailey. I got into Airsoft around 2 years ago and pretty much immediatly fell in love with it. My buddy from school got me into it. The first war I had I used a walmart brand clear plastic mini aug with a rate of fire that barely passed for fully automatic. I eventually got my own m16 from mc sports (big mistake) and went to Sogo Airsoft for the very first time. It was a great time. After awhile I figured out that the best guns were not plastic spring guns from walmart. Finally I decided that I needed a quality gun. I bought a full metal AEG M4 off the wall at Sogo. This gun is my main weapon today and it has served me well. After awhile I bought a p90 and cut the spring to 300 so I could play in the beautiful place called Sogo Airsoft. I'm strongly looking forward to playing in the new building.

Please hit me up on here or email me and let me know if anyone is around.

My Name is Scott. I live in Mountain Grove. I am 41 and have two boys who both enjoy air soft.
I got started into air soft last year. I also enjoy paint ball. I have mostly played air soft in woods with friends.
I am hopping to find more air soft events that I can attend. My biggest grief right now is that I work 2nd shift 6 night a week.
I have several out door air soft guns ( 300 fps or greater). I am about to purchase a couple for indoor games.
I also have a sniper rifle but I have not gotten to use it much.
I look forward to getting to know you all better.

Hey everyone I have been playing airsoft for almost a year now and have played paintball for many years on top of that.  Bought my first real aeg and pistol from sogo in june of last year.  I love this game and play it every oppurtunity I get to.  I enjoy the type of airsoft that relates to milsim style of playing.  I like objectives and not alot of shooting.  I look forward to meeting some of you guys and will try at some point when money is available to make it to sogo one time to play think it would be fun.  I currently have an echo 1 mk16 that is pretty much stock and a taurus 92fs pistol.

Hey, guys!

I joined up because my son is interested in finding out more about Airsofting in the Springfield area, where we are trying to move. He's all geared up with a KWA G36C and Beretta M9 Tactical and Airsofts locally (We are stuck in the Los Angeles area for the moment). If you see this username online it may well be him and we'll be visiting my cousin, who I hate because he got moved to Billings last summer before we did, April 1 through 8. I'm Rick and may son's name is Drew and he is in the 9th grade and is in NJROTC at his high school.

Sorry, couldn't think of a clever username so I just used my SASS name since we both also do Cowboy Action Shooting.

Oh, how do I get a picture in that profile spot? Gotta show my Zombie Outbreak Response Team emblem!

Hello everybody, Slayer here from airsoftohio.  I'm one of the initial members of the 97th phantom squadron and I've been playing airsoft for about 8 or 9 years now.  My current arsenal consists of an ICS m16 with 203, a TM p90, an old broken down CA m16 that I'm using for parts, a super 9, a tsd m9, a partially working Irene III pistol, and I just traded my TM Famas for a cheapo m4 that I don't remember the brand. I'm my teams grenader and as such I thought it would be irresponsible for me not to own an ICS GLM, which is the main reason I'm here, to shop for a used affordable 6 round grenade launcher.

Hey guys, I'm one of the other admins at MMA.  I figured I'd make an account on here and chime in.  I had minimal involvement with this OP, but I'm glad so many people showed up.  MMA isn't used to those kinds of numbers, so it was definitely a learning experience.  All feedback and criticism here is greatly welcomed by me, as I'm preparing an OP later this summer and am eager to make sure mistakes made during Black Cloud aren't made in the future.  Black Cloud was a huge learning experience for us at MMA, so again thank you for attending and giving the necessary feedback!

Expect an announcement for a summer OP soon...

Edit:  This was meant for the AAR thread.  I don't know why it was moved.  Please move it back.

Rich,

I moved your post to this Introductions thread because:  (1). someone's first post is supposed to be an introduction and (2). your post seemed like a very nice way of introducing yourself.

It's nice to have you here.  We look forward to the pleasure of your company.

Hello.  My name is Kyle.  I have no airsoft experience what so ever.  I have played alot of paintball in the past but always wanted to make the jump to airsoft.  Only issue is all the guys I played paintball with quit the game all together.  I would like to start playing but wanted to see how active the sport is in the area before I go and spend tons of money on equipment that I wouldnt use.  Also been looking for a decent gun to get started with without breaking the bank.  Again in case it didnt pan out.  Want something im not gonna hate in a month but still not $600.  Ive been looking at the classic army m4.  Any opinions on ca?

Welcome Squirrel! SoGo airsoft is the mainstream CQB place in the springfield area. They are just north of Ozark on the Lamberts exit. If you go to SoGoAirsoft.com you should be able to find directions. They have open play most weekends and monthly events. So I would say that it is pretty active!

Awesome.  How often are there field games (wooded areas)?.  Also are there any urban type environments that you guys play on?.  I came across some ca colt guns on ebay and they look like the same guns in mc sports in the mall.  Are these true ca or are they cheap knock off junk?  Also apologize if spelling or weird letters pop up in my posts.  Im on my phone.

We normally have field games when it's more temperate out so more towards fall and early spring and depending on the weather because the field we use floods very easily. . .no urban/rural fields near that I know of but CQB is a BLAST, i started playing about 3 years ago and have no intention of quiting the sport and if youre looking at guns and gear just head up to So Go, they have plenty of guns up on the wall right now and if they don't have what you want there, they can order it for you, and they're very knowlegable on all types of guns and gear, and the most expensive gun you'll be looking at (withoout going for the rare/exotic stuff) is about $150 to $250 and it's a blast no matter what gun you get but just go up there and take a look I believe they're open 12-7 on most days but they closed tuesday

Yea, welcome Squirrel8811.  Come on out and see us.  Glad to have you on here.  I started the store in here 5 years ago knowing only 9 Airsofters in the area.  And trust me, there are a bunch of Airsofters in the area.
I have been in Airsoft since the late 1990's.  And we are the guys who invented the first Airsoft Claymore in 2001.

As for guns at the store.  You will find all different kinds.  Alot of time we get in what they have just produced.  Airsoft guns are made in Lots and then they don't make them for 6 months.  They just change their tooling over and make other guns during that time.  Sometimes we will have alot of clones and then sometimes we get a bunch of the higher end guns in stock due to the Distributors offering better deals.
There is alot of Rebranding that goes on.  But keeping up to it isn't always easy.

Again, Welcome.

Hi, my name is James and I recently moved to Springfield about two months ago. After having bought a gun from my brother which he had placed a new spring in and messed up the simulated bolt and myself not liking to touch internals I took the gun to sogo. They then instructed me that if I was looking for a team to play with (which i am) that I should register on this site. I do not consider myself a vet but I mostly play outdoor games mainly milsim I really do not enjoy cqb but given the right group I may re-consider my stance on it. What I am looking for is a group that gets together at least once every 2 weeks. Anyways a little bit about me I am an aircraft painter I am in the business of painting military helicopters out at the mo-avcrad at the airport. I have a lot of free time on my hands to play so I would very much like to join up with some of you guys and play!

Hey James welcome.  I saw that you had stopped by the store today.  I guess you met my wife and Stormy(the white huskey)  You are correct about playing with the right group of guys in a CQB setting.  It helps alot.  You will find that group here as you attend any of the games, indoor or outdoor.  Would love to have you out for either one for sure.

Stop by our Springfield location sometime and we will get you up to date on what is going on and where.

Title: Introductions
Post by: Colin on November 15, 2012, 04:23:44 PM
Well,

I'm back again. I had originally joined the site a few years back, and was just planning to meet the group then for the first time when everything here "imploded". I remember seeing the site get passed to other members, but I had gotten busy with managing my own airsoft site, which became quite popular. My goal at that time was to move up from the "chairsofter" ranks, and actually get into some games. That never came to be, unfortunately.

Since then I've been dealing with job-loss from the economic crunch, and just an overall loss of interest in the airsoft "hobby". I had to sell off my prized custom PTW to make a mortgage payment, and never really got over that.  :'(

I work and play primarily in the IT field, but in the last few months, I've been spending more time rekindling my airsoft interests. I visited the SoGo store in Ozark a couple years back, when I think I bought an M90 spring to try and downgrade one of my guns to meet the CQB limits. I can't remember where that spring ended up...

Anyway, at 42, I'm not sure if I'm actually going to make that transition from hobbyist to player, as the time constraints of work and family doesn't leave a lot of "free" time these days, but maybe you guys can convince me. I've harassed Jon many a time over Skype, but have yet to meet him face to face. We will see what happens during round 2 at Springfield Airsoft!

My name is Jed meadows, I have been shooting paint at others in scenerio events since for the past 7 years, 4 of which was done as a ref at my brothers paintball field, or at my own.  In the past 2 years myself and 10 oters from my hometown have gotten into airsoft. I love the sport, shooting at others has been something iv been quite good at. If any of you made it to COIN OPS at battle creek, I was the guy running around with the Obama mask! I'm fun, I'm good, I'm a team player and I do like to win, but I despise cheating! I would like to join a team in Springfield area, I have skills and the weapons to execute them, so please message me if you would like to give me the opportunity to tryout. I am 19, can drive anywhere, and do not live with mommy! Thanks for reading my post.

My gear

Fully licensed king arms m4 (with non lethal parts from my real AR 15)
Socom green gas blow back 1911 (high cap)
Mags
Speed loader
Tac vest
Coms.
HVT mask lol

Hello  my name is Phillip, aka Merlin.  I was a paintballer since around 2001.  After my 8 year career and 2 deployments in the army I decided to try something more realistic than paintball.  So after much awating and debate with my fireteam, we decided to move to the airsoft community and train in CQB. With my military background and combat cqb training we plan to train hard and be a huge contender in the area.  We are DEFCON 5.  Once the rest of the gear for our team is purchased, we'll see yal on the range :)   after train up.  We have some added members so... train train train!!

hey whats up everyone.  My name is Greg, callsign (Dager).  Im currently living in Lincoln, but I am moving to Springfield around the end of the month.  I have been doing airsoft for about 7 years up here with ASN (airsoft nebraska).  Heres a link if you want to check it out: http://forum.airsoftnebraska.com/.  Im used to playing an organized event about every other week over here in nebraska.  Im mainly interested in field and woodland play, and I dont really have a CQB loadout right now.  Do you guys have a field or is it more just indoor CQB play?  how often do you guys normally host games?  Looking forward to meeting all you guys once I move!

Due to our CQB being the main thing around here we do a lot of organized games for the CQB.  But we do have our outdoor Events as well.  Depends on weather and what other Games or events that are going on around the region.  But always trying to get more outdoor to even things out a bit.

Hey, the name is Wyatt Bukoski, and you might see me from time to time at So Go Airsoft Open Play games from the beginning of this year (of which I have played every time since then to now). Most of the time I am the one with the AUG A1 and legit military gear; I also seem to have inborn military skills (just from I have been hearing, not what I truly think). I am considered new, but I am seeing myself being more active in Airsoft recently. Hope to see you guys out in the field and see you at So Go Airsoft in Springfield every Saturday.

I usually play at the CQBs, however if I get the chance I would love to play at an outdoor game with everyone, hopefully sooner than later. I want to send out a big thanks to Jon and Lynn for all they done to help expand the airsoft community. I look forward to meeting those that I do not know from Sogo.

Now lets go play some airsoft!

Hello there!

Alright hold the guns for a second while I explain myself;
I am a long time paintball player, and Im looking to play some airsoft, Im also a bit of an amateur airsmith and gunsmith, so Im a bit of a tradesmen ontop of that. Im also getting into all sorts of fun designing of various items and one of them is a GBB rifle system that uses standard AEG magazines with an onboard co2 or green gas tank. Or at least thats the hope. Id like to have someone show me a typical GBB rifles internals perhaps in person so I can get an idea how they really function as Ive had the chance to mess with AEG's before.

Ok, now you can shoot me. :)

I started off with a cheap springer form a flea market and moved up from there. I'm starting my own team, Snake Eater. I'm a condor and blackhawk fan boy as well as a HUGE H&K lover. I run my weapons hard and usually switch weapons every year or so. I play airsoft like its actual combat. With no fps requirements or distance safeties.
My heroes are Marcus Luttrell, Chris Kyle, Travis Haley, and James Yeager among a few. I do gunsmithing every now and then.

I'm Raven and remember, watch your 6!

Hi I'm Andrew aka Tesla from the Kansas City area. I get out and play regularly when the better half (and daughter) allow. I've been playing for about four years and my team (Resistance) regularly plays with local teams as well as up at the MACC, where I believe I may have played with a few of you folks already on here. I do a lot of tech work, as well as R&D for airsoft weapons, and I take a lot of pride in my hand made rocket launchers. Just thought I'd drop on in and see what all the fuss was about down south, and maybe take a trip on down there one of these days to raise some hell on the field!

I'm running a UMP 45 and a M3 tri-burst shotgun. I am in the process of making a SWAT loadout with the helmet and armor. I'm excited to dive into this community and learn all I can about airsoft. Thank you SOGO for helping me along the way.

Hello all,

My name is Aaron, Call-sign: Doops. I originally grew up in NY and played A TON of paintball. I was pretty heavily involved in tourney play and was sad to let it go when i came down to Springfield for school. During school i met my lovely wife of 4 years and found myself keeping busy with work. Well things have slowed down and with that comes a need for a hobby. SO after some discussing, myself and some friends scheduled some private play time at SOGO Ozark and I haven't looked back. Nothing is more thrilling then that new piece of gear coming in the mail every week. Multiple block plays later, I caught up with Jon at the Anniversary event and here I am. Im ready to take my play to the next level and play with other passionate people.

Aim Small, Miss Small,
Doops

What is your teams age group?

On the team we have male and female players that have all been trained in one way or the other. I can do any part on the team however I am the team Medic, I am learning tech work, and I also spot for our sniper. The team uses "M" series weapons such as M4's M249's etc. We take Airsoft serious and we try to make it feel as real as possible. However down in this part of Missouri there are not that many places to go and play or people that want to play that I have found that is.

My name is Logan, I don't have a ton of experience under my belt as ive been playing on and off for a couple years now but I really want to get back into playing and take it more seriously this time around. Hoping I can meet some people to have regular games/practice with and maybe find a team to join. Also looking for field games in the area when they happen as im more fond of field than CQB but I still love playing at SoGo, looking to come out to a Thursday night soon.

Oh believe me I will have fun, ive just got to get some gear again as I sold all of it from last time. One thing that pushed me away from airsoft before was people never calling their hits and just staying in and being bad sports. It just upset me, but i guess there will always be people who are sore losers, cheaters, etc. you just have to learn how to deal with them the correct way. And as for the grey hair, dont let it concern you, it just means your becoming more wise ;D

Welcome Ross. Have you been out to So Go Airsoft yet?  You can actually hold and test fire if you want. Our Halloween event is this Saturday.
To help us better. How old are you?  What type or style of gun do you like he looks of?
Again welcome.

Greetings,

I belong to a WWII re-enactment unit in mid-Missouri. Last year we ran into a group of reenactors from Wisconsin that also played airsoft. So after talking to them our group tried out a couple of WWII themed airsoft events and we really enjoyed it. We decided it would be a great activity to add to our event schedule along with our blank-fire tacticals.

So, starting in 2015 we will be hosting a series of WWII themed airsoft events in Missouri in the hope it will start a regular series of events with an authentic WWII look and feel. We have been talking to several airsoft groups in mid-Missouri and things have been progressing well.

I have posted our first event in your "Non-SLAP Events" section. I look forward to questions and inquiries.

Regards,
Chris

Hello to all! I am very exited to have found So Go Airsoft due to the lack of public games around my town. I've been in airsoft for around a year now. My first and current gun is a Black Ops M4 Viper which I got last Christmas and haven't had the pleasure of using to its full potential...yet, and my side arm is a Cybergun SIG Sauer GSR CO2 pistol. I hope and plan on getting in my first game sometime this March over spring break. Hopefully my friends and I will have a great time. Can't wait till then!

Hey guys,
I have been looking into airsoft recently and thinking about getting into it. I was wondering what kind of community there was around the springfield area? Are there any places that have outdoor games(what i loved when i played paintball). I need to go up to so-go and look at some guns. if i can get into it, i think this would be something i would really enjoy.

First off welcome. We have a good community of guys around here. A few teams if you are looking for that type of thing. There are many outdoor games that folks travel to. So Go Airsoft has 2 indoor buildings and some outside area. We are looking to expand that part of it. But we are also working on an outdoor field. Should announce something soon on that field.
Again welcome!!!

Thank you. I live in Ozark, and pass your shop everyday to and from work. Does your Ozark location have a showroom/store there? And I would be really interested in a team, I've watched some videos on some mil-sim and I think indoor would make for great extraction /hostage rescue games. It seems like air soft could be LARP on steroids!
Title: Re: Introductions

Yes we have a full retail store. Don't have every gun in stock of course. But we have different ones in at different times. And do special orders every week.
Yea the cqb is really good for that type of games. And we do all those plus many more.
As you play you will meet these other teams. And as you get further into airsoft you will figure out what you really want to do.
Introduce yourself when you do stop by the store. Would love to put a face with call signs and email addresses.
Thanks again

Title: Re: Introductions
Post by: Supercell on June 08, 2015, 09:35:14 PM
Ozark location.  We had to shut down our Springfield location. Due to lease increase. And my moms was given a short time. So we elected to shut it down. Same amount of actual play area. And the bonus of 2 different feeling buildings. Plus room to expand the outside location helped making the decision to stay in Ozark easy.
Thanks

Awesome, I saw you guys were closed tomorrow, but i may stop be wednesday evening just to ask some questions and look at some equipment. I really miss playing paintball, and i think airsoft may be a step.

I like the idea of being able to do more with a realistic looking weapon...and then actually being able to use it. lol

Yep. Closed Tuesday's. Ok. Wednesday is good. Thursday might be better. We have our Thursday night event going on 6-9. You can check it out. Smaller crowds on Thursday. But better chances for scenario style games.
It is up to you of course. Either way. I'll be there.
