Different Airsoft teams and Locations
« on: August 29, 2012, 07:42:19 PM »
I know there is an old thread somewhere around here with this info in it... but i didnt feel like being a Necro! So here it goes...
If everyone wouldnt mind i would like to see how many teams( 5+ man teams if you dont mind) are on the forums or at least someone from there team on here. I just would like to get an idea of what kind of groups we can start having cross training and such. For example... Pieing Corners... exiting cover fire(im sure its called something else). Different hand sign's and such... i mean things like this to kind of pick at eachother brains. Maybe even talk about what each team is doing for different situations.

N.O.V.A. - 7 member team (FYI while you read this there are alot of examples and a few times i do get off subject i do apologize.)

We seperated the team in three categories, Core, Recon, Support. This one of the things we wanted to start with for our team because we didnt want anyone not to have fun doing something they wouldnt like.
Support: are not just people that own support weapons they are also the people that like to take a good pace to things and not rush ahead or sit(like me at New Dawn... i wanted a twinky and i sat down and ate my twinky). So for them the Support worked and was the best way to max there fun intake.
Recon: People that like to be behind enemy lines... like the title suggests. The way we do it might be different then others i dont know. Our Recon team consist of members that enjoy the Marksman weapons and like to hide in stuff... sitting waiting for there prey to come out in there view(Radio in to tell me that there eatting a 3 muskateers bar). They just enjoy getting the info fast... and just dont stop moving usually.
Core: This is basicly the group that has the people that are in the middle of everything ... really for no reason. Example: Op Black Cloud... core group... middle of 2 bases shooting both sides while the recon group went around to find out where everyone was at and the support group was handling an escort. Everyone in this group on our team is just all about having fun about everything(best example of this is when ross ran into the middle of the base with a tornado in his hand screaming "I WILL PULL THIS PIN AND WE ALL DIE")

Training: Since we started in sogo alot of the items we have been working on really have to deal with that territory. So we do alot of room clearing tactics and such. We are not amazing at it but i will say that we have learned alot of neat tricks from seeing other teams/players there that we all adapt to. Example: Regulater have a chicken(does nothing just distraction) the last time we played with them... they said "reggie in the whole"... i had no idea what that ment... i looked down and there was a chicken... i looked up and 2 guns in my face. Yea awesome right... thats what i thought. Anyways i got off the point i was making with this post. We would like to get stronger in this aspect but we dont get down there enough...

So thats about it i guess basicly talked about what we have been working on and a few examples. I would love to hear everyones training and stuff what everyone's team layouts look like. Just to see how everyone else structers work its always cool to see new ideas about how people organize things.

I don't have a team but would like to be on one but there is just not a lot of interest in my area. I love the idea of getting together and train and learn from each other and I am hoping to be able to get out to more games and stuff here soon.

I'm with C.A.M.O. (Christian Airsoft Missions Operation). We're sponsored by the Springfield First Free Will Baptist Church. Currently we have 5 members, and we try to incorporate anyone who wants to work with us.

Our main goal is to use what we do - airsoft - to glorify Christ. We try to be examples of all the honorable characteristics that make airsoft such a great sport. We mostly do things either at So Go or at outdoor events involving players who are typically outside of the local airsoft society. We try to direct people to SA an So Go so they can learn more about local airsoft and hopefully get involved.

We're interested in a wide variety of stuff; we have a tactical expert of sorts at our church who helps train us sometimes. He's especially good with CQB and handgun tactics.

As most of you know, I'm from Delta 9 out of Northwest Arkansas. We have well over 10 team members but the most active are a group of about 7. 8 if you want to include Joe (we made him and honorary D9 member).

D9 is MilSim for the most part. We still enjoy our occasion skirmishes and such, but most of our money goes to attending and traveling to OPs. From the time I joined in early June 2011 until now, D9 has grown in size, skill, and reputation in the MilSim community.

Being more MilSim we train in movements and formations quite a bit. We've had the pleasure of SA's own Bagel assisting us in just that before OP Broken Home. I myself have participated in some training in urban movement and dynamic entry/room clearing with some members of an Oklahoma SWAT team. Again, I myself do a good deal of 'real steel' (I HATE that term) shooting. My dad being an ex-IPSC competitor imparts a good bit of knowledge of combat handgun shooting to me which I in turn pass on to my team as much as possible. Sometimes D9 is seen as 'mean' or 'agressive', even though we don't intend to come off that way, that's just our playing style. We move fast and push hard to gain the upper hand in any situation possible.

Delta 9 never slaps a role title on any player due to the fact that we all like to change it up. We have 3 members with support weapons and at least that many with DMR's and a couple with GL's that will trade on and off between OPs depending on what they want to do. I myself am geared to run marksman, rifleman, and grenedier. I am usually one of the players on the front charging and pushing hard as it is just more my style and more what my gear is set up for. Also, there is never a specific one person for SQL (squad leader) but it is always one or more of the four admins.

Metal asfar as D9 is what would you say your strengths and weakness's are if you dont mind me asking. Like what do you think your guys need to work on the most. The reason why i am asking is because there are alot of things that we could improve on ourselfs.

Rev, great idea for a thread; I always enjoy hearing the aspects of each team.
Boba, have I met your team? If not, are they amng the players coming to Op Mishko?
Metal, agressive is perfect; we have a saying in the military of "You stop, you die". D9 has been one of the teams that has truly impressed me with their style of play and effective use of tactics... weakness wise I have not seen anything worth mentioning.

Rev: I feel that I've already mentioned our strengths. D9 seems to have always been great at outdoor events in pretty much every aspect and only continues to get even better. I would have to say that our greatest weekness as a team is dynamic entry and room clearing. I really don't think most players realize how much practice goes into that before you become anywhere near decent at it. D9 is starting to remedy this with the opening of a new CQB place in Northwest Arkansas.

Despite what information and training can be imparted from one team to the next or from trainer to trainee, getting good at it can only come from practicing with your team. Eventually little to no communication will be needed for all the pieces to fall into place and things to run completely fluidly. Believe it or not, hanging out off the airsoft field can help speed this process up. Subconsciously you will be picking up on how each other thinks and goes about different situations.

Jbagel - No I don't think you have. We're an entire team of chairsofters (we haven't even slung plastic since April). We rarely advertise our outdoor events on SA and we only go to So Go less than once a month. I'm hoping I can get a few of them to Mishko, we'll see.

Thanks Guys for the comments for sure. I totally agree on the practice thing for sure i wish to be honest that my team had more trigger time its just hard with all of us on the scattered side of things. I know this sounds weird but I would have to say for NOVA that our strength's are just making people laugh(I know lame but true). The reason why i say that is because most of us have known eachother for well years(except for our newiest members). When we do get together though... all of us our communication skills show very well. We deministrated this at the last event we went to... and to me the best part of seeing everyone come together is how much fun everyone still has and we dont take things to serious i guess. We pride ourselfs in our game play... what i mean by this is that its nice at the end of the day when people always say to you "You are a bunch of great guys to play with". Our best time thus far playing airsoft team wise i would have to say has been at SoGo. Not only did we start there but we grew there too.
I will say this though our big weakness is we dont have practice or the trigger time we wish we had. Since our whole team is scattered it makes it hard to get together so mostly its the core members that get the game time more then everyone else.
Anyways didnt mean to ramble just really proud of my guys on well we did this summer on getting together dispite the fact that it was only 3 times thats more then last year.
@Jbagel:Thanks man
@Metal: Thanks for the in put man its always fun playing with your crew i remember the last time we had a head to head battle it was good!
