Question and curious
« on: October 02, 2013, 09:31:46 PM »
Ive been itching to get a revolver airsoft. And before anyone asks, heres y. Im doing a small play for a friend of mind. A westren one. Ive been into western since I was little. But heres what I got:

Dan Wesson CO2 Revolver. I thought the c02 would kind of make it realistic. Heres the question. Should I instead gone with like a spring powered instead of the c02? My friend said that I should shoot blanks but Im worried that it will hurt the gun if I do that. I would like some suggestions on this from anyone please!

Thanks

I hope Det mcClane responds to this. There are some nice feeling revolvers but usually more expensive. But I a few of our customers have, and do, use revolvers sometime.

Well Im up for suggestions. But if I use the gun without the bbs, will that harm the mechanisms inside the gun? I was kind of worried bout that. I looked into blanked and there is NO WAY I would be able to buy those. Well the ones that would be needed. I thought this as a alt.

Speak of the devil, and soon he appears!  Finally, a topic on which I can expound!
Okay, it basically breaks down to this: Western weapons are almost impossible to find. Personally, I just bought a black Wingun in a 4 inch barrel. I will be bringing it to the operation on Oct. 12th if you would like to see it. Just look for the cowboy.
Right now, there really aren't too many places selling Colt Peacemakers. I searched for quite some time before settling on the wingun. I figured it would work and be practical at the same time. Granted, it's too hot for CQB but it will make a great addition to my U.S. Marshal loadout.

It kinda depends on if you wanna use it on the field. If you are just using it for a prop gun in movie, then a basic springer revolver will do you just fine. It might also work for cqb, but I wouldn't depend on it too much as they are pretty flimsy.

As for gas western revolvers, the Marushin X cartridge series or any of the western guns by Tanaka are supposed to be amazing. However, most can't be used with propane or green gas as it will blow the seals, as I recently found out. I bought an A&K Winchester rifle and after several games on propane, it blew a seal in the upper reciever. They are also rare and very expensive when you do find them.  A good secondary option that doesn't cost as much as these are the Wingun series of revolvers, the "Dan Wesson" guns you mentioned. Everything I've read says they are pretty decent, and I will try to put up a review once I recieve mine.

If you ask Jon at SOGO very nicely, I'm sure he could probably get ya one! Like I said, I will be bringing mine to the game if you would like to see it.

After reading your post again, I would NOT use blanks in that revolver at all. That is a very bad idea, especially using them in a weapon not designed for them. It could blow up in your hand.  With it being a CO2 revolver with shells, it should be pretty realistic for your film.  It should work just fine without bb's in it, as long as you don't dryfire it for 1,000,000 rounds.

Thank you. I will take that into consideration. Ive actally been wanting to buy a revolver airsoft but ive only done a small amount of searching and all. Next time Ill remember to come to you. Ive already got a H&K UMAREX G36C, took me a while to get but found it on craigslist. Then my friend came to me and asked me if I could help him with his 'script'. I thought what the heck. Im just surprised that the old western are hard to find now and days. I mean they do have the WWII guns out there dont they? Or is it because people perfer the more 'modern' of the days? Im a mixture myself. I actually had a very close friend of the family that was in WWII and I thought bout purchacing a gun. He would always tell me stories and all. :shrugs: But I think Im going to stay with the western.

By the way I am a bit curious. R any of u western fans? Or do u perfer modern instead? I think it be kind of intresting on the replies I would get on here.

And Det. mcCain. Thanks again for the advice. And heck yea I would love to ur revolover!

Thanks

We have had a few western style guns come through here.  The quality is all over the map.  We have a lot of competition shooters that like to practice with revolvers.  And some have very specific requests.  And some of the game types we have done work well with the western style equipment.  But like you said.  The more modern styles are way more popular.

I grew up on Westerns, so I've always been a big fan. That's the reason I ended up getting a winchester rifle and a revolver.  I'm a big movie nut, so most of my gear ends up being themed loadouts based on stuff I've seen in movies or video games.
I wear everything from suits to Stargate SG1 gear to my Western Marshal gear, just to do different stuff. I realize that the "uber tactical magpul rail" stuff is really popular, but it just doesn't really interest me. I did wear tactical gear for a few years, but I just got burnt out on it and started working on my various themed loadouts instead, and it seems to be pretty popular, lol.

Sounds sweet. Right now Im working on my G36C, uzi and mp5. Ive been looking into some laser attachments but ive backed off a bit. I have a rifle that I refurbish from my great grandpa, it shoots the pellets and dead aim too. Love it. I use it to scare off the stupid coyotes when they get to close to the house or animals. The revolver going to kick butt and Im excited. R we allowed to use those in the squirmishes at the Sogo block parties?

As long as it shoots under 300fps with .25g. That is around 330-350fps with .20g

Bring it in and we can test it for sure.

Thanks

So that means you are good to go. It is more in line with our $10 rentals.

Lol, im dabbling. I got my lil nephew into airsoft now. When he comes on the farm, we go out to the outer part of the 100acres with the go kart to a small area my parents gave me and I have some targets set up for him to practice on. I keep the grass cut but whats really cool is sometimes if we are quiet, we c animals, like deer and turkeys passing by. Im surprise their not spooked by the noise...

Actually, I just picked one up recently and I have to say, I really enjoy it.
Manufacturer: HFC
Muzzle Velocity: 280FPS
Revolver Capacity: 6, 1 BB for shell
Gas Type: Green Gas

That is 280 with .2's, and so far, its consistent. Also, the shells are brass, so there is a nice weight in contrast to another brand (can't remember)

I just wish I could find a speed loader. That would be lovely.

The frame mostly metal and the grip and cylinder are plastic.
