Custom TM M870
« on: May 14, 2015, 10:22:01 AM »

This build went pretty easy, currently took about 3 hours to cut the barrel, mount the front sight, and install the parts. Here are some of the pics in progress.

I'm finding center on the outer barrel by using the front sight and the top rail.

Now I've plotted out where the pump grip sits, inner barrels are, and where the front sight goes. After a few more measurements I decided to place the front sight in a different location.

After deciding to move the front sight farther back, I marked out the final length of the outer barrel and used a pipe cutter to remove it. I cut a smaller portion off the top to practice first.

Now I'm remounting the front sight which had to pins and a screw attaching it to the front barrel.

Mounted and ready for the dovetail sight to back on.

Making sure the sights are lined up.

Still have a few more things to do like paint the front edge of the barrel, try and make the lighted grip less wobbly, and maybe a mod to the front sight.

haha you're right, I was an idiot last night.

Now I'm getting anxious to start building on mine... After Broken Home is done taking all of my money of course. The extra effort you're putting in really shows!

Found a video on how to modify the Magpul Forend to fit the Marui 870, so I'm seriously thinking about trying it. The downside it that I permanently have to modify a real-steel forend, but the plus side is that it's a more snug fit so it won't wobble as much as my G&P forend. Not to mention that Magpul released an M-LOK version of the forend, so I can transition accessories between my other M-LOK platforms.

I'll try to remember to post pictures if I go through with it

Is it sad that the first thing I notice about that last picture is one is an 870, and the other is a Mossberg 500.

Airsoft is all about fixing and modifying. I wouldn't worry at all about modding that part, that's the most fun.

Finally got the thing installed. Only took a few hours of filing and cutting... But it's much more sturdy than the old forend
