Sometimes the ICS is hard to get parts for.  I had to finally go buy parts at regular price just to get a guy back his gun back after 8 months of us having it.

I am sure you do.  Metal always feels better.  Remember that isn't what always makes a great Airsoft gun.
There are alot out there.  Depends what you want to spend.  I will see you next weekend for nova's game.

I've owned several products from ICS over the years, and I've always considered them on par with Marui as far as quality is concerned. I currently have one of their newer mp5's and am very happy with it. Metal body, great motor, fast trigger response and ROF, and a breeze to disassemble. All of this for only $215! I have heard of a few cases of trouble here and there with tappet plates, wire connections, ect., but that was a few years ago. From what I understand, to date, they have made the necessary changes to work the bugs out. They also have some really great innovations you can't find on other brands, like a cocking tube laser for their mp5, and a split-style gear box on their m4, so you can change your cylider set right there in the field with nothing more than a phillips screwdriver. This year they've even come out with a 3-shot burst aeg! Some of their guns are a little pricy, but they boast cutting-edge technogy. Also, you may have heard of their sister company, VFC. 'Nuff said?

I don't think this is entirely true. VFC is Vega Force Company and ICS is I Chih Shivan. They are both made in Taiwan but I don't think they sister companies. I could be wrong, but a quick internet search yielded no results.

haha you're right, I was an idiot last night.

Well, maybe it's the same distributer if not the same manufacturer, but I know I've seen the brands catergorized together, like with KWA/KSC, there's been  other cases where different brands left the same factory.

Oh yeah, now I remember. If you look at ICS guns on******they're manufacturer is listed as ICS/VFC. I saw the same reference in Team SD's forum a while back and they've been an ICS service center for years. Reguardless, both brands make awesome stuff. Anything made in Taiwan is pretty much a safe bet.

Oops, let me rephrase that. If you look online at one of the evil, over-powering, self absorbed, monopolizing, opportunistic, croperate bull dozer dealerships, you'll find both brands listed under the same manufacturer. Believe me,  I have no love for that company either. They burned me a few years ago on a pair of deepfire hand grenades. Neither worked properly, if at all, and do think they honored my warranty? Nooooooooooo, not them. This was an early, expensive lesson on buying online. Today I shop where I shoot, if I surf the online shops it's just to snoop around and see what's out there. If I can't get it at my local store, chances are I don't want it.

My only issue with ICS is the proprietary parts (assuming they still do this?), as jon mentioned, if the wrong thing goes bad, you may be in a bit of trouble trying to find a replacement.

OP: Get a KWA M4 if it's in your price range. Solid guns, and lots of replacement/upgrade parts should you ever feel it necessary. I'm not actually a big m4 fan, but the availabilty of parts won me over.

I recently have become a member of the ICS owners brotherhood through an amazing deal on ebay on one of their MP5SD's. I can't wait to get the thing because what I've always heard is that ICS is pretty much the cadillac of the MP5's.

I wouldnt go as far as Caddy... but maybe like a corvette. Still a good car but you dont have the luxery's you have from the caddy. I owned a mp5 from ics for a short while but i didnt like it when it broke. It was more money for the maintence that had to be done on it. But i will say when they work they work good.
