Airsoft Race Guns

Has anyone here made an attempt at making a race gun from something like a Hi-Capa?

Over the last 13 years playing I have had one on my mind from day 1.  I want to get something together for those people who would like to try out that aspect of the sport.

Anyone game?

Some of the ones I have run across have been $3.   I had thought about making one either out of one of the P14's I have or selling my AK and making something from the cash I get from that.

Are the WE pistols that horrible?

The founder of Milsem Event (Claymore) has a couple TM hicapa race guns. He was trying to sell one a while back. So yes, it can be done, and there are guys out there that share your interest.

I was actually considering doing a rac gun build myself. I think if I were to do one I'd go with a split slide version to have a quicker an snapier cyclic rate. I actually already own a flared magwell that I never installed, so I'm kinda already on my way I guess.

I've had pretty good luck with WE pistols so far. I'd sill say a TM would be better if I could geta hold of one for a decent price.

Your project is going to be expensive, as long as you know that going in don't skimp with the gun itself. Most of your money is going to be in the body and upgrades in your gun and the most used race gun is the Tm Hicappa. I think the second is Western Arms. There are tons of upgrades available for the TM for a reason, it has accuracy and reliability. Those are the most important qualities you need for your project.

I know all I do is talk about TM this and TM that on these forums, I've tried to help out numerous people and steer them in the right direction only to find out that they waste their money on junk. Hopefully you will do your research and invest in the right gun for your project.

Please keep us informed, I know a lot of us would love to see a good GBB race gun at SoGo.

No problem..    Did you happen to run across anything in the mean time?

I scrapped the idea for now..  I was hoping that there would be interest in it but it is going to be a touch one to organize and with a new one on the way I will again have less time to devote to it.

If i shoot I will just use my KJW P14.

I have a WE Hi-Capa that I've been modifying little by little. I added a Madbull punisher compensator, Nineball lanyard loop, TM 50rd mag w/ a Shooters Design metal base plate, and a Hogue grip sleeve. Haven't changed any internals yet, haven't really needed to. Except for a higher ammo count, no real performance upgrades but the chrome flash does make it stand out. Airsoft International had a Hi-Capa project running about a year ago, so you might find it in their archives.
