WE M14 GBBR Semi Auto Mod
« on: May 04, 2011, 06:10:44 AM »
I have finally spent the time to fgure out how to mechanically disable the full auto function of my WE M14 GBBR so that I may more safey use it for DMR/sniping purposes. This is a 100% positive and effective modification to the gun. However, it is quite permanent unless parts are replaced so unless you know for sure that you want your M14 to fire semi auto ONLY, please do not attempt this modification.

First off you need to remove the trigger grouping from the stock. Next you need to locate the trigger both inside and outside the trigger grouping to ensure you know what piece you're dealing with. Once you have located the trigger, you'll notice there is a small black colored metal piece pinned to the trigger itself resting on the rear side on the trigger. This piece here is going to be your main focus.

This piece keeps the hammer from 'running wild' when semi auto is engaged by stopping the hammer once cocked and only releases it when the trigger sear engages the hammer itself. On full auto the small black piece attached to the trigger is pushed back just far enough to not allow the piece to catch the hammer and stop it from continuing to fire. It is disengaged via a block in the fire selector switch. These two parts only touch each other in a small area. If you look at the small black piece on the trigger, there will be a small little 'finger' on the upper right side. This is the only part that comes in contact with the fire selector system, so naturaly if we get rid of this little 'finger' we can eleminate the ability of the gun to go full auto. I personally used a dremel tool with a small round sanding wheel with the red colored coarse grit to grind mine down. By using a dremel tool I didn't have to take the trigger out of the assembly to have better access to this little piece to use something like a hand file, but hey if that's all you have go ahead and use what works because it's really not that hard to take the trigger out and put it back in.

Here are some more example pictures...

Here are a couple pictures to prove that while the selector is on full auto, the fire selectory group still cannot come in contact with the trigger group after the mod is done.

I hope this will help those of you that have the same interest as myself in a project like this! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reply!

Keep it MILSIM!

Thanks!

I'm actually thinking about having my dad get a 14mmCCW threading die so that I can cut the outer barrel down and re-thread it, and then just have a silencer on it permanantly. That way I can have my silencer without it being super long and be a little more urban friendly.

I'm also in the process of making a 14mmCCW thread adaptor for one of my G18C barrels. When that gets done I'll post pics of that project too.
