you might have just over heated the motor have you tryed useing it since it stop working? i did that to my gun a few days after i got it. played around with it for a while then the grip got real warm and stoped working. after about 2 hours it would work again. idk if this is your issue or not but its just something that happend to me.
JUST For future reference...
Even the "best" AEGs will start having motor issues if you constantly pull the trigger on FULL AUTO and HOSE entire mags out of em. Especially a highcap or two that feed good, and wind up and roll right.
That motor I do believe is an oil-less motor, meaning there's no lubrication other than maybe graphite or something non-flammable in it, to help the magnets spin through the coils freely.
As the coils heat up, they expand... and can "stop the motor from turning".
The more juice going through it, the longer the magnet spins around, the more it will heat up.
Two things can happen ...
1- The Fuse blows, due to over-compensating current produced by the motor. This happens cause AEG manufacturers hadn't yet figured out what transistors and reducers are for. Of course, they are more expensive than a 20 cent fuse... , so they use the cheaper route of course.
(A fuse can be bad, or weak to begin with... the one that came stock in my MP5SD6 was like that, one shot it blew out. I replaced it with one from Autozone, same size, just better brand, never had an issue since. )
The Fuse, blows... to try to keep the motor from too hot where it will not function anymore. Kinda the same principle as not putting any oil in a car motor. Gets to hot, it seizes up .. permanently. Different method, same principle.
or 2-
As described above... the motor got hot enough, it wouldn't spin anymore. Not enough DC current from the battery to blow the fuse before hand. After a bit of time, it cools down, and the coils shrink back to normal size, allowing it to be fired again.
The only bad thing here is... the metal in the coils do have "memory" if heated enough , and for the life of the motor, as long as it's hammered long enough while shooting, will ALWAYS expand and stop the magnets from spinning. If it does it enough, the coils can become brittle, and break inside the motor in little bits... which can lodge up and stop it from turning too. ( I think anyways, not something I've cut open a non-working motor to actually 100% prove mind you. )
and... I think having ANY kind of motor issues at all, can be helped from the start by having someone re-shim and line up the gears correctly, and by making sure the PROPER amount of grease and lube is in the AEG to begin with.
The less "resistance" the motor has, the more efficient and smoothly it does it' s job. It takes less current ( Power) from the battery, to simply pull the spring back , and turn the gears, if they are lined up and lubed properly. Less current, means less heat. Less heat, means you can fire more, with less issues.
And, also, as Jon said... you can call him or Sogos and they can walk ya through the "normal" common maladies of AEGs as well. Jon gets alot of abuse on his rentals, I bet he knows more than I do about AEGs hands down.
and guys, it really does help if you describe issues in details .. for everyone.
Saying, " HELP MY GUN ISN'T WORKING" ... doesn't tell us what to look for.
Saying" , Help me please, ... I was shooting on Full Auto , I shot 2 mags through it quickly, and it just stopped shooting. I pull the trigger and nothing happens. It was shooting just fine. I checked it, no BBs jammed in it, battery is full and charged, it just will not do anything. " <<< That does help more. The more detail, the better.
It's very hard to diagnose AEGs and GBBs over the forums, most the time, either I or my airsmith have to see it in person in order to know exactly what is going on.
So the more detail, the better in the future please.
Also, just so ya know, most factory put together AEGs aren't properly shimmed right, and either get too much or not enough grease in the gears. They get it "good enough" to ship out, and that's it.
Like I said hope that helps. Sogos can probably get that AEG running in two minutes. They have fuses.
TTYL..
