Electric Pistols...
« on: September 07, 2011, 09:25:26 PM »
I know I had to have asked this before ( just couldn't find the thread ) ... , but are there any decent electric pistols ( side arms ) out there?

I'm talking about decent enough to get the same performance for Sogo CQB, and Field play ... just like the GBBs I have. ( can be a little under powered, if they shoot same distance and accurate.)

I ask ... because in a few short months, temps drop suddenly... making gas highly un-reliable.

I believe TM and CYMA both made G18C AEPs. I know the CYMA was pretty decent and of coarse the TM is. There are some others out there I think, but those are always the ones that come to mind first for me when some one mentions AEPs.

I have a Double Eagle USP(M81). It rocks. It's more accurate than most GBB's, and it holds 30 rounds. also has full auto.

The cons are that the mags can be easy to make spew BB's everywhere, they don't fit in pouches the best, and the batteries are kinda small, so if you use the pistol as a primary you need an extra battery or two.

I used one of dethwish's CM030s way back when. It was a surprisingly decent sidearm.

I'd recommend them.

yea i own a CYMA 030 ... its in the review tab for more info. Me and the Fett talked about this before and we both agree that the AEP's are worth the money for sure. But when you buy stuff like the high caps be carful. I bought 2 highcaps for my 030 CYMA and the TM mag. After 2 years the TM mag finally stoped feeding correctly... but that is because of my fault for not unloading it and keeping loaded while in storage. In conclusion the AEP's are worth the buy there are alot out there right now but few in stock i can send you to a website that has all the v2 gearbox AEP's from CYMA(glock style, p226 style, DE style)

Also dragon to elaberate on this. I have been doing some research on the upgrades for my 030. And i have been talking with the folks at SoGo to help me get the upgrades for the gun. You can buy the tightbore and also the spring to increase the fps amongst other things (ROF etc etc) anyways. Nine ball makes a spring and mad bull makes a tightbore(tightbore is a 6.01 eek but still) Um but you can also make a lipo upgrade... i wouldnt do that but thats just me. Back to the matter at hand what were talking about is comparitive results to an AEG but pistol form. After spring and barrel replacement(now there about $18 for each upgrade) you wind up turning your AEP from 200-210fps to 280-310fps with .2g bbs. I thought that you would like this information cause i loved it. If you dont like the G18 style then i would also rec the p226 style or usp style. These upgrades are also compatible with those guns too.

In conclusion sir you can have a sidearm that doesnt use gas. Shooting at what a normal AEG or GBB without buying gas just keeping batteries charged. And if you want to get really fancy you could get the highcaps for the AEP's and you will never... run out of rounds ... ever lol. If there are anymore questions please feel free to ask man i have been doing alot of research and now that i have Jon and Adam looking into the prices and seeing what they could do for me ... its been one hella trip dude.

I bought TM MP7 today, I love the AEP design so much I'm making the MP7 my CQB primary and selling my TM AK47 Beta Spetsnaz. They're totally awesome! And as far as I can tell AEPs are more reliable durability-wise than full-auto GBBs!

If you like the glock style then i would go with the CYMA or TM version. Since i think in my opinion that they are of same quality and you can get the same parts. But there are some parts that are not the same quality for the style. For instance the CYMA highcap is crap... complete and total crap. You would have to purchase the TM version for that... same with everything for exterior... it should not be of cyma quality. Let me know what your thinking maybe i can help you out point you in the right direction

Point me in the right direction...

the whole kit and kaboodle...

the AEP, with upgrades, including the Lipo conversion.
I would probably want the "standard" cap mags as well... I like the added "realism" of dropping mags, and reloads.

You have to look at smaller retailers now to get those CYMA's. 9Ball makes almost any and every upgrade you could possibly want for those and are usually in the neighborhood of $35 for each and every upgrade. Sounds like you and me BOTH are wanting one of those!

Kilroy form MAKO has one of the CYMA's and I PMed him about his and he loves it. Says he's had it a while and it sill shoots like a champ. He even seems to get good trigger response and ROF out of the stock 7.2v NiMh batteries. I think most of the lipo upgrades are only 7.4v though. I think an 11.1v would be just a little too much for one of those things to handle.

I actually don't like the 11 volt lipos..., to me they seem to "over-kill" the desired actual result ... and with so many parts, seem that extra stress is bound to cause havoc on the internals.

But, yes.. I want at least one of these AEPs... I'm thinking two actually, one for each hand in Sogos.. :)

Honestly, I play alot in cold weather, and lipo energy seems more cold reliable than green gas.  Outdoors, usually the only time I pull my sidearm, is when I'm in CBQ engagements range, or moving inside a building that might need to be "cleared"...

Don't get me wrong, the GBBs are fun...
I just wanted to try one of these at least, and see how well I do with it for a year or so.

Dragon you sir are on the same pace i am. Now the question is you Want Glock, USP, DE, Sig styles? CYMA makes all of the above but also TM only makes the GLOCK version. IF we ever play together i have a stock AEP but... just an fyi you could always ask john to use his if he remembers. The stock battery is amazing on it yes metal i do agree. I get the play out of it like no other. I like the ROF of my AEP. My total whole goal for my akimbo loadout is 2 CYMA 030 and 4 standard mags... I like the highcap's cause they look amazing. The ROF stays consistent on the standard battery for about 300 rounds or 4 hours on a full charge. After that it starts to drop pretty hard. the only irritating thing about the AEp's is people dont expect it so when they dont "Hear" The gun go off or hear it on there gear they sometimes dont call out. Thats the one thing that is the draw back on them cause they are very quite all you hear is the motor winding and spring release. So some people that i have played with that are of... well bigger builds dont call out. Example: Last NOVA event we invited the Regulators from como down. Well there bigger guys and they still have plate carriers and such on them said they didnt hear or feel it when they were being shot... they thought it was ricochets. But that is anywhere you go I guess.

I will say one thing though i like the feeling knowing that i can unload my clip faster then the guy standing next to me with my pistol then they can with there's lol. Me and friend tested this ... he put his GBB M9 on auto and i put my glock on auto... i dont even have to tell you who won lol. His gas ran out before the last 3 rounds got sent out. It was awesome feeling for the consistency. Anyways not im rambaling for sure. So anyways yea i have alot to say on this subject.

what's your opinion of DEs?

I probably want Glock , but not certain about TM ... I would think CYma would have tougher components internally????

Desert Eagle though... now I can see one in each hand on Dragon... lol. I'd be tacticool!
Lol.

Yeah, the whole cold weather thing is why I myself have been looking into AEP's. They don't need gas EVER and you don't have to have Co2 mags or even a separate Co2 pistol for the cold.

I'll put down 2-3 G18C AEP's on Jon's little 'Christmas List' thread for us! ;)
