What should I do with this gun??
« on: March 17, 2012, 04:12:33 PM »

I got this gun in a box of mystery, and Im trying to determine what I want to do with it.  I dont think I want to throw a lipo battery in it (they make me nervous) but my 8.4v batteries just dont do it justice.  I haven't had it chrono'd yet (it came with a chrono report that said 342 over 15 rounds) so it should be cqb legal.  Can anyone look at its specs and tell me if its even worth keeping, Im actually considering selling/trading it for a good pistol, I REALLY!!!! want a nice gbb pistol, and I think this gun might just give me the leverage I need.

Thank you all for your input

I wish you luck in finding an answer. If you really want a nice pistol, go for a pistol! (Personal opinion:two awsome words when it comes to nice pistols. Tokyo marui!)

Seems worth keeping to me but if there is something you want more, sell it and buy a pistol.

Ok then let me ask for a different set of opinions.  If I keep this gun how could I best turn it into an amazing cqb gun?  I have seen mods where they removed the buffer tube and installed a extremely short front end but my fear is that might be above my skill level?

All help is appreciated
Thanks
David

What you can do is buy a CQB length inner and outer barrel and equip those and just change out the spring or clip it, whatever you want to do. If you think that you would like to go this route and don't want to spend the money on having someone do it for you I can make a video of how to do it. It's really not that hard honestly, and if you screw something up, you can always take it to So Go or someone to get it done for you! All you should have to pay for all of those parts I just mentioned would be around $35, not that bad if you ask me.

Well to be honest man i will that it is easy to clip the spring... the problem i find with cliping the spring is where to clip it. I have already done a few that i have cut to short but that is just cause im a relitivly new at airsmithing... My skill has not yet hit its lvl cap. I mean im still oranage on version 2 gearbox's(lol WoW referance)

I've owned several of these M4's that you mentioned. Every one I bought I bought for parts because for one reason or another the gun was unsatisfactory. I find the body to be very weak and leads on bad barrel wobble and the motor is rediculously weak. The rest of the parts are actually decent. Unless you have the time/money to throw at it to make it a decent gun, I'd get rid of it in favor or a pistol or something.

You should be fine for CQB.  The reduced spring strength requires less force to fire.  I do not know if your motor is weak.  Even if it is, the close distances and semiautomatic only rules in CQB may negate that issue.

Go ahead and give it a try.  If you want, So Go can you a new motor pretty cheap and Evan can install.  He'll get your gun purring like a kitten.
