Customizing my 552
« on: April 19, 2012, 06:47:47 PM »
I know im a 552 fanboy but there are some things i want  to do with it for sure. I have already posted in the DIY thread about whats happening to betsie and i kind of touched on what i would like to do. Now the question is what else can i do.
I looked on ICS's website and they have a bunch of parts that are dark earth... so that will help me become orginal. Then i was thinking about maybe a peq box... but i dont know how it would look with a 552 i havent seen one with it yet. Then also was thinking about grips and sights and all kinds of stuff. First an formost i want to extend the barrel. When i do how long do you think i should go and what method of hiding the barrel should i use. I know they make a LB kit for the 552 but was talking to Evan and he mentioned that LB kits make guns look dumb... so he suggested a mock silencer... i would love some input... now keep in mind im doing this to make betsie look amazing im not worried about price just yet.

I have actually thought about buying a Sig 552, they're really cool! I saw one that really caught my eye and it had from front to back: mock silencer, peq box, MagPul stubby vertical grip, acog, and a sniper-like cheek riser on the stock.

Honestly, I would go minimalist on it. Accessories are great, but they also add a lot of weight to an already heavy weapon. A longer tightbore barrel would be good, with a lightweight silencer to cover it. I would also put a forgrip on it, as I have one on that MP5k and it is a lifesaver. It can be used to stabilize the weapon while using it, as well as putting your wrist in a much better position while shooting, which can be helpful with fatigue.  I carried an M4 for a year or two before selling it cause it was heavy and I kept gripping the magwell, which didn't help my accuracy at all and ended up making my wrist sore after holding it for long periods of time.

Also, for the love of God do not get Magpul crap or I will unfriend you on Facebook, lol.  Magpul products may be decent and while Haley and Costa might be nice guys, I really don't get the rabid fanboyism surrounding their merchandise or them. EOtech sights are similarly retarded and should be avoided like the Ebola plague. Although if you put three red lasers on a single switch, kinda like the Predator targeting laser, you will be the best person ever.

In short, keep it simple and don't clamp a bunch of junk on there. You want a classy weapon that Agent 47 would be proud to use, not a Transformers-like collection of railed crap. Seriously, why do all the Autobots look like something that got stuck to a giant magnet in a scrapyard? Am I the only one who sees this? I may have a tumor.

XD LOL! I can definitely see where you are coming from. I just like a cool looking gun and that's solely my opinion, however it doesn't take a crap load of accessories to get a cool looking gun. If we are talking minimalist, from my previous opinion i would do away with the cheek riser, acog, and maybe the peq box, however it may come in very handy, plus i like the look of it.  ::)

This is the reason why i ask the question. I love the 552 and i would like to make mine unique as possible... all that peq box stuff wouldnt be for fashion it would be for battery... 552 battery houseing sucks bad! But i did find a current mod that does not require me to drimal anything. I will say though that i do want to extand the barrel... and i do want to find out if the ICS body parts will work with a JG body. Like i said Dark Earth is the color i am going to try to make all my stuff... and i think im going to finish my desert loadout. If you guys get a chance check out ICS SG552 Commando DE... thats kind of the look im going for.

Okay, that ICS SG552 Commando DE... Looked like an ungodly amount of cool. I would totally go for something like that with maybe an ACOG on top. Or am I the only one that sees that? Anyways, Evan likes his mock suppressors, which ins't bad. Just depends on your style. In his defense, it is the perfect way to add on without having this somewhat compact gun with a long barrel. Especially since you can add the inner barrel down it. The PEQ battery wise, yes. I wouldn't do that just for looks. All around, do whatever makes it comfortable. Cool is well cool, but nothing beats a gun that you can use well because it feels good in your hands.

Thanks fellers, feel free to quote me in your sigs, lol. I'm here all week!

Yeah, I'm down for Acog sights. They are cool, I just can't stand those square, blocky eotechs.
I agree with Brendon, you gotta build a gun that you can shoot well and be effective and have fun with. Also, looking cool is 90% of what airsoft is all about. Have you people SEEN me? I'm cool. And possibly gorgeous.

Very true. Maybe I was a little misleading; here, look as cool as possible, but don't overdo it or you will end up with a heavy and impractical gun.

If it's what I'm thinking of, it is some sort of supressor,  and rail riser, an a "C-more" replica reflex sight, and a m3 looking pistol/rifle flashlight?(think it has a laser built in to the flashlight)

So ok does anyone know if the Dark Earth pistol grip, stock, and foregrip area from the ICS model will fit other models? Cause that would pretty sweet if you ask me.... also my final choice for my barrel extention is Mock Supressor! I just dont know what length i should get the inner barrel.

What do you guys think of a PEQ battery box cause i was thinking that is going to be the only way i think i can get rid of my wire pinching problem.
