Optics for my new sig553
« on: December 23, 2013, 01:49:37 PM »
OK so how is everyone doing? I hope there having a good holiday. I myself have a question for everyone since I really never invested into this as much as i should so maybe some light can be put on this subject.

So I am looking for an OPTIC for my 553 if you have not seen pics of the gun it is on the FB page for SoGo it is a beautiful gun. I am looking for something for field use because that is what the gun will be used for. Something like that has a little zoom to it but not much and something that i can still see the radicals(i think that is what they are called) in the day time. Pls help me out guys and also first and formost this has to be stylish...

I would like say that the Sig 553 is a beautiful rifle! A good optic for your rifle with your request, can I suggest the Elcan. Adam and Cody have them on their LM4 and they are great optics.

Tang beat me to it... lol the replica Elcan Specter Scopes are pretty convenient, since you can switch between 1 and 4X zoom with the flip of a lever. And they look pretty sick too. Other than that, maybe an ACOG replica? I know G&P makes a nice one that So Go can order.

I like my Elcan, Its pretty awesome. Havent had much field time with it, but It is adjust in the normal ways and comes with a quick detach option on the rails. Like mickey said it has the x1/x4 option with the flick of a lever. Ill bring mine to show you next time your down. Mean while here is a few images to look at.

I did the Sig556 model on the Elcan but its close enough to at least give you an Idea of what it'll look like.

The G&P ACOG that I've seen goes for between $100 and $120

the acog is a little bit more in my price range for sure... I still need to get a red dot for it aswell. I was originally thinking of getting a replica holo and magnifier.

Those Elcans are REALLY nice, beats an ACOG hands down. As far as red dots, I would recommend a Cmore clone. $50-60, and won't clog up your peripherals.

The only issue I have seen with the elcan is the fact that even the replica weighs 1.3-1.5 pounds. Not normally an issue for most people but it is for me LOL

My personal optic of choice has always been an EOTech replica. They are stylish IMO and I have had one on almost all my rifles. It feels really comfortable to shoot looking down the sight with both eyes open and allows for good peripheral vision. You can get some like the one I have currently which will still work well even in daytime. Plus you can always throw on a 3x magnifier for the zoomed view.
