Chest Rig vrs Plate carrier vrs Battlebelt
« on: July 23, 2014, 04:18:41 PM »
So I have a Plate carrier and I like it but I would like to move to something more light and streamline. That right now is what I have been looking at. Recently Greakon purchased a chest rig that had built in m4 pouches and still has molle room for other things. I liked the design but not sure if I am totally convinced that this is something that I would be interesting to pursue. Now that being said I have also seen Mitch's battle belt and he has it very lightweight for sure but I have no idea how the moving around would be. Now this is for my outdoor build so just keep that in mind. So please I would love to hear every persons opinions on this subject... also please give reasons why ... I just don't want to hear ... battlebelt nuff said... because that doesn't tell me why battlebelt just tells me that you like them and use them. Just would love to hear every persons thoughts.

Well of course I have a few different ones.  And they all serve their purpose.  Temps play a big part in what I think I want to wear.  What I will be using also helps dictate that.  I know some folks don't like the zipper on some vests.  And others love the ease of Zippers.  Velcro the same way.  I know some guys are very particular with what they wear.  Lets see if they chime in.

Joe got me into a Battlebelt a year or so ago and I really like it. It has enough space for a couple of mag pouches on my right, a dump pouch carefully placed over my butt, and a utility pouch with my dead rag and flashlight in it. It also has the suspenders attached so it doesn't make my pants ride down. My only complaint is I have to keep the right side empty and moved to a drop leg to mount my pistol because my vest was in the way from a clean draw. I'm also considering a modular style chest rig in the future to go with my belt. I think you'll need to do something similar if you need extra molle real estate for a out door rig.

haha you're right, I was an idiot last night.

See I was thinking battle belt too. Last year I saw Princess(delt) with his battle belt and taco pouches and was pretty impressed with how light everything went. I thought to myself hmmm that could be better then my PC and lighter... cause im fat lol.

The battle belt offers a lot of modularity. I wear mine with a plate carrier most of the time but it can be worn alone for shorter games or situations where I want to be as streamline as possible. Having a setup that can adapt to your play style is always nice

SO what does that say about "MY" play style... if it is even a style lol. Like I said before man ... I thought that cody had an amazing build set up but then things changed where I saw mitch and just kind of fell in love with it. I just don't know if that would work for me ya know. I like to be somewhat mobile and lighter weight... I guess im just saying is I really really want to get lighter then what I have.

Outdoors, I use a simple Vietnam-era style belt + suspenders.  I've never tried a battle belt/suspenders combo but I'd be willing to try it.  I have no butt so I need suspenders to hold up the belt.

Indoors, I like to cover my all-too-abundent torso.
