Military Simulation (MILSIM)

I was just wondering how many people are interested in MILSIM or traveling with me to the K.C./Columbia area to go to some training events.  

I have not been around for a while so I am just trying to figure out how many people are interested in learning military tactics or learning what MILSIM is all about.

I'm not expecting a big response.  I just want to see if anyone is interested. The group that runs these training events is One Shepherd.

Cool things about MILSIM:
-Use real steal weapons (firing blanks)
-Use M.I.L.E.S Gear 2000
-Use night vision
-Learn how to fight as an individual and part of a unit.
-Learn how to plan, rehearse, and execute offensive and defensive operations.
-Learn how to communicate effectively with members of your team.  
-----Learn what its like to feel like a bad ass at the end of the day

Just some more information...

The Warrior Basic Course (WBC) is the entry point to the One Shepherd community. The WBC is offered only once per year in early September. With the exception of the Land Navigation Course, the WBC is a pre-requisite for all other courses within the Common Core Curriculum (CCC).

Covered in this course are the fundamentals of tactics – shoot, move, and communicate. Additionally, students are introduced to specific battlefield operating systems unique to the infantry platoon. The WBC culminates with squad force-on-force exercises.

Meals, blank ammunition, tentage, and all battlefield operating systems (weapons, radios, NOD) are provided.

This is a great event to attend, I have attended the WBC course and learned so much. Last year, the price for event was really cheap, and I wish was able to attend. Bgallion, do you know the price for this event?

The price has been $50 in the past.  That was before they began using a lot of blanks.  We got to shoot a total of about 60 blanks (2 magazines) the first time I attended and the last WBC, I believe they were issued 4 mags, in which they fired in night time engagements, then again during the Force on Force the next day. I believe the new price is $75, this is probably due to the increase in ammunition as well as new goodies unforeseen    It sounds like a lot but here is what is included:

AR/ Kalashnikov style weapon system
MILES 2000
Blank Ammunition
Night Vision
Radio
Barracks/ Tents provided.
Food
and more....

That's still a good price!!! If I were to pay for loaded ammunition (4 mags), it would be close to that price.

Pacer's been doing MilSim for a long time.  He knows his stuff.  He led me during my first outdoor game.

I've heard nothing but good things about this class.  The instructor has published a book.  I have the book.  It's very good.

I'll be doing these in the future, as a lot of jobs that I'm interested prefer military and law enforcement training.

how old you have to be? and what if we dont have an AR-15 or AK style weapon

I believe you have to be at least a high school student. And they supply the weapons.

Here is a fun little video about one of the courses that One Shepherd offers.  As you will see, engagements occur over greater distances due to the use of MILES gear.  Making the simulation much more realistic.  Not to mention you actually have an M4 or an AK firing at you!

Trust me, when you start popping of rounds out of an M4 or Ak-47 and your targets are firing back at you... your adrenalin will be pumping like crazy.

The experiences you will have with One Shepherd will not only give you training and knowledge to survive and defeat your enemy in combat, but will also teach you leadership skills in which you can apply to your everyday life.  Training like this is hard to find, unless of course, you join the military. If these videos give you a strange tingly sensation ... then MILSIM is for YOU!!!

I found out that the minimum age you have to be is 14.  So if you are in high school, you should be safe.  Unless you are one of those gifted types and skip grades. lol

I know bud.  Don't you have a friend who is also interested in MilSim?  We might have a group of 4 to go to the BWC/ LLC and then the STX and FTX as well.  It would be awesome if we could have a small group to attend this stuff on a regular basis.
